Topic: RE: What's on your Thursday Menu?

Good mornin y'all.

Not much happening today. That I know of anyway. I'm feeling rough as usual. I think that'll never change ha.

I might go to Walmart later or a different grocery store. I need a few things.

QOTD: done right yes, all in on it. I don't think roof ones are the best. It also depends on the area. High wind areas they can be dangerous. A lady in New England somewhere was killed by a panel blown off the roof of a car port. I live in an area where high winds are VERY common not to mention the hail we get. I wouldn't get them on my house...maybe our big shed. All in all I think things will get better because some things need to be improved upon.

B: egg pita sandwich and coffee

L: half an enchilada

D: haven't decided.

my brother and me in the mid 80's.

Topic: What's on your Thursday Menu?

It's Friday-Eve Gang one more day and the weekend is here. Yea I'm posting super early as I have a dentist appointment at 7:45. Things were pretty quiet at work yesterday and I don't think there is much going on today just the typical work day stuff.

QOTD: Do you think the whole go solar thing is good? Honestly as much as I would love to go green and supply my own electric I don't think solar panels on a house roof is a good idea. I've heard of people having nothing but issues with their roofs after installment or their panels not working correctly and the company who installed them don't want to hold up their end of the deal. I've also done a little research and it appears the batteries used have less than a 10 year life span and they are costly to replace that the homeowner has to pay for themselves.

B: coffee and protein shake

L: seafood stuffed mushrooms and french onion soup

D: cheese stuffed chicken burgers

I think Irvin has some solar rep coming out so I don't think we will be going to the Y tonight. I'm not very happy about it as over the years we've had several come out and we've always told them no.

Have a great day everyone!!

Topic: RE: What's on your Wednesday Menu?
  1. Yesterday
  • brunch - Beef brisket all fat removed w italian au jus gravy, portobello mushroon pieces and caramalized onion, scallion greens ( put on just after cooking Chinese and chef style . Ditto for the fresh parsley ( though some tiny stem pieces ( i use scissors more than knives in my kitchen ) helped add flavor to the gravy.
  • Fat free Hollandaise sauce made w ff half n half , freeze dried butter solids, pepper and scallion greens and dill added last minute.
  • Oven roasted brussels sprouts w caramelized onion , garlic seasoning and fat free cheese sauce .

homemade soup - mix of squash, vegetable and chicken turmeric farro from Pret enhanced w pepper parsley scallion freeze dried butter and pepper.

  • snack - a chocolate rugelach
  • guilty pleasure - wine spritzer w sugar free prebiotic soda ( Poppy)
  • Also snacked on lime / spicy plantain chips in bed - finished bag . Lesson there - do not bring fattening snacks to bed !

Today - kind of out of sorts - viewed tiny-terraced apt in Chelsea in a 936 !!! apartment building. GIANT ! No views and same price as everywhere else but with only one bedroom. Also no on street parking in the very busy area.

Incidentally the air in midtown is less breathable than the South Bronx lol!

The graveyard apartment is taken I feel like a kid whose candy was stolen lol!

I'll apply again tomorrow for the yellow/ orange backup in South Harlem ( good air , leafy neighborhood parkbsteps away but no amenities in building whatsoever . Excellent onstreet parking.

Theyll accept me as will Da Bronx I believe after emailing w the agent .

B - creamed spinach w/out cream about one cup

toasted in oven pulled pork Pret burrito ( about half )

w fresh salsa enhanced w fresh parsley, cilantro , green part of scallions as dipping sauce for the wrapper ( about a cup ) ,

roasted corn n pepper salad ( 1/2 cup )

homemade fat free coleslaw ( shredded cabbage w fat free ranch dressing lemon if you want it and pepper )

a few bites of chocolate mousse cake

usual ff sf lattes

lunch / dinner - bean sprout salad w spinach tomatoes sesame oil

a few bites of sesame chicken

a few bites of Korean sliced pork ( tasty but oily)

marinated shrimp ( about 5 )

chocolate rugelach ( one )

herbal tea

I think Ive decided to accept the challenge of the Bronx apartment . I KNOW its counterintuitive but parks ARE planned ( I and other like me - paying high rents for the waterfront ) can help make these plans a reality .

The noise level all nite last nite was outrageous from an endless line of garbage trucks getting weighed on their way to the waste burning plant .

Imagine all the cancer causing plastic in those trucks polluting the air !!!

I have some ( predictably outrageous ) ideas how to make MY air better - talk about that tomorrow !

Gnite

I cant burn anything ( smoke makes me choke lol! ) but I can and do love organic scent essences like jasmine , lemongrass, sweet orange and bergamot .

I just dab them on my wrists and neck like perfume and Im surrounded by a cloud of uplifting yum !

Sorry to miss Monday and Tuesday. I was cleaning like a madwoman for a visit yesterday. It was lovely and now I have a tidy home for a few more hours, haha. Going to start in on my planned sewing binge.

QOTD: Scented candles. Tried the wax melts when they first got popular but didn't have room to store a warmer for every fragrance I wanted and it was so wasteful (and annoying) scraping out one scent, cleaning the burner just to change scents. Small candles take up so little space and I really only use them in Autumn and Winter anyway. Open windows give such a better fragrance.

B: I'm currently chewing a hot protein shake made with prot. powder and coffee. It was very well blended but when you heat protein powder you know how it gets all nasty clotted. No amount of blending takes that away. I'd forgotten about that and will not be repeating this meal.

L: Still working on chewing down that nastiness. (Edit: It went down the drain; those teensy little clots clung to my throat and made me cough.) I'll prob. have a Premiere rtu shake.

D: 10 shrimp, a sauteed zucchini and maybe half a cup of FF Greek yogurt w/sf Jello powder.

S: Guessing either a bottled protein shake, cup of sf hot cocoa or something to help me combat this new habit of wanting something sweet before bedtime. This has got to stop or it will just become a gateway to worse things.

Hope you all have a great day!

Topic: RE: Whats on Your Tuesday , Post-Long Weekend Menu?

My gosh my grandma would love, love, love those cartoons! She had one she kept in the early 70's of one of those old women in a mini skirt and her husband was saying something like 'Dangit, Ethel! I told you no mini skirts!' And of course her boobs were hanging out the front. She showed it to EVERYBODY who came to visit, lol. I miss that woman so much.

Yikes your rental situation sounds so stressful! I'm not a fan of being around big crowds but I would face them in New York to be able to go to Mood Fabrics or the Fabric District. But I hear you need to go there with several thousands of dollars because it makes a sewist want to buy all the pretties. And I'm sorry not to have been following the news in this cleaning frenzy, didn't even know about your flooding. How awful and the situation with the boat house neighbor too.

My weekend through to Tuesday morning was full of full-on stress cleaning and organizing just to be able to have a dear friend come visit. She'd never, ever be judgy about my mess but with three families' worth of furniture and belongings (inheritances) it looks like a hoarder house here and makes me ashamed. You'd never know I've been steadily decluttering bit by bit for the last three years.

So sorry you get such bad headaches, I did for decades and know how it disrupts your life. Don't miss those suckers now since my hysterectomy. Hope yours will ease up once you get a new apartment and finish up with the old house.

Monday's meals were:

B: my choc/protein/collagen shake

L: 10 cashews (does that count as the Guilty Confession?)

D: a egg-bite style concoction of Egg Beaters, 1 Amylu breakfast sausage, 1 lite cheese stick and 1/2 a zucchini sauteed in 1 tsp real butter.

S: a Magic Spoon mini bar that is similar to a Rice Krispie Treat, not bad and almost satisfied the habit of wanting something sweet in the evening. I can tell the Contrave isn't working as well because I didn't have even that amount of craving for months.

So now that there was a fabulous visit with my friend and my house hasn't recrappified itself yet and I can actually see my dining room table I'm ready to dig into a sewing marathon for new clothes. Not allowing myself to read but when I do the next up is a vintage book called 'The Window at the White Cat' by Mary Roberts Rinehart. Published in 1910. It will be fun to imagine everybody in clothing of that era that was so glorious on Downton Abbey. It seems to be a crime novel.

Going to try to get caught up here on the forum and keep caught up! Hope you had a great Tuesday.
