Happy Surgiversary! You've worked really hard. Nicely done.

Take the rest of the day off. Tomorrow is another fight. Keep swinging!

At least 99% of people disapprove of weight loss surgery. They see it as lazy fat people taking the easy way out. I do not bother educating them or trying to change their minds. It is my body and I make my own decisions about how I live my life.

If they confront me, I tell them that I was tired of dieting and took the easy way out. It is not true but it is so much easier to follow a weight loss diet when you are never hungry and can only eat a small portion of food.

I had my surgery in 2007. Most of the people I associate with now did not know me when I was not slim. My family and longtime friends are very supportive. Just accept your sister's disapproval. If she wants to discuss it tell her she is entitled to her opinion and that you appreciate her concern.

You do not need her approval and you do not need to educate her. You do need to educate yourself and know everything that can happen. Your medical team and the people here can be your support system.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends

Just say that you make the decisions for your body and your health, and no one else gets any input.

How can I deal with my sisters' disapproval of my weight loss surgery decision, especially when they don't understand the challenges of being overweight?

Some of those I can't do them. I can't get off the floor without touching anything.
