BIG MISTAKE. EXTRA LONG
Hi All,
Just wanted to let everyone know I am still alive. Had a rough go of it but much better. I haven't felt like getting on the pc, but I sure have had eveyone on my mind.
Frist I had not had a bowel movement since surgey, April 20th. I tried everything that I knew to do got advice from you all, called my Dr. done what he told me to do, nothing worked. I never got sic****il I started drinking the fiber, then the throwing up started and I stopped the fiber and I quit being sick. Still had not went to the bathroom.
So on fri we came to Ga to see my daughter and family, on the way down , we stopped at a DQ and the food smelled so good, so I thought I could eat a beef patty, chewed it very slow. Everything seem ok. When we got here I was drinking water and it started to hurt very little when the water went down. My daughter had grilled chicken, mashed potato's and green beans, so I mashed and chewed as best as I could. OL, My goodness did the pain ever start in my chest after the frist bite. I had never had pain that bad in my chest. I started wanting to throw up, got so sick I really thought I was going to die. The pain just keep getting worse and still sick at my stomach. Man, did I ever get sick, I didn't think our sleeve held that much. It was food from a day or so back. That really scared me. I was so sick even yesterday, I tried a couple bites of Jello, made me even sicker. I told my daughter I had to go to the ER to see what was going on. The Dr. was very nice and understanding. They stared a IV, pain med and med so I would stop throwing up. I told Dr. that I had not had a bowel movement since my surgery. So she checked me and I seemed ok, then she had a scan ran on me, she told me that my stomach looked great, no leaks, but I was backed up in my bowels, all so my potassium was low and they gave me 4 big pills for that. The Dr. gave me a bottle of Citroma, if anyone knows about that stuff it makes you run to the bathroom. So we got back to my daughters and I drank 1/2 the bottle very slow and sat up for a few hrs waiting for it to work, nothing happen. I went to bed, woke up this morning and drank the rest of the Citroma. We went out for Mothers Day dinner. I got some refried beans eat a few bits and stopped, so scared of getting sick again. We came to my daughter's house a good bit afternoon and FINALLY I started going to the batroom , then the Citroma start working better. It had been so long for me since surgery I was very worried.
I had made a big mistake, that I hope none of you have to go throw. Because of my bowel's not moving, I thought I could eat food and it would make me go to the bathroom, so I jumped a PHASE. Did I ever pay for it. I am only at Phase 2, full Liquid/ Puree. Here I was trying the heavy eating.
The other bad part is here I am feeling so sick and about dead, with my daughter that was so against surgery. I was so weak I could hardly walk. My daugther ask me if I was sorry I had WLS, I told her no, because it was not the surgery making me sick it was because I was trying to eat solid foods. She understood and now she makes sure I have protein shakes, she makes them herself for me. I got back to my right phase now I feel so much better. We even went for about a 30 min walk this afternoon. My daughter said that I walked better than I did the last time I was here, before WLS, about six weeks ago.
I know this is long but I am trying to tell the new sleevers never up yourself to a higher phase unless the Dr. tells you too.
God Bless all

Well i'm glad you are feeling better and that you didn't do any damage to your new tummy. You just had major surgery and you have to follow the food guidelines especially in the first month. Thats very important, you don't want to do any damage to your new tummy, you have to baby it at least for the first month and go slowly eating more types of things. You need to be careful you could still hurt yourself otherwise :o) jeani
