antibiotics 6 weeks out?
I was in the same boat. About 2 weeks after surgery I had an accessed tooth. My dentist prescribed anti iotics. Until I heard back from my surgeon, I opened the capsules and mixed them with my shake. Yes, they tasted horrible.
My surgeon cleared me to take them whole. Check with your surgeon fo instructions specific to you.

Hi Louise!
I am in a similar position but the difference is I have an abscessed tooth and I'm supposed to have surgery in a few weeks! I am on antibiotics but I'm debating getting a root canal next week just to ensure this doesn't happen again. I wonder what you guys think? Part of me is thinking just to finish taking antibiotics and then just get the root canal after surgery. I think the infection is almost gone and I'm worried having the root canal would make me be in more pain before my surgery than just letting the infection die like it almost has.

If I were you I would get the root canal out of the way because of a few issues, you won't be able to take antibiotics or pain pills for the first couple of weeks and god forbid it should flare up right after surgery you would feel awful on top of trying to recover. There's enough to adjust to after surgery without throwing oral surgery into the mix, my opinion go into surgery as close to healthy as possible!
