How do you figure out the calories, carbs, fat, protein in a homemade food?..... And then break it up into individual servings?

The app I use for tracking, the LoseIt app, let's me input recipes, and then calculates the calories per serving...

You write down the cal, carbs, fat etc per serving of each ingredient used in the recipe to get a total for the entire dish... then if you divide that dish into 6 servings...divide the total number of calories, fats and carb totals by 6. Someone else migh thave a more accurate way. I will be watching to learn a better way myself...

I use myfitnesspal.. they have a tab for recipes, all you do is enter the number of servings and then scan in all of your ingredients. It will calculate all of the info for you.

Thanks for posting.  I've wondered the same thing and maybe I will give this a crack.

Any tips ons figuring out how to break out your serving size?  Maybe I'm just lazy, but it seems like a real PITA to get out a measuring cup and measure exactly how many cups of chili I make in one batch, plus I know it probably varies some based on how much water is in it, or has cooked out.  I may know that I ate 1/4 cup, but have no idea how many total cups the recipe makes.

So far I've been guestimating amounts on the main ingredients and adding those stats up, i.e. ground beef, beans and tomato soup for the chili.   It is really a shot in the dark but I thought it was better than not tracking at all.
