Did anyone have a low grade fever after surgery. I have run 99 to 99.5 on a and off since surgery. My papers say I don't need. Call unless it is 101 or more.

Thoughts?

It could be mild dehydration....also could just be part of the healing process

I don't think I had one, but was told in advance that it could happen and not to worry until it unless it got to 101.

I did too. It was as high as 100 one night in the hosp. Thus far at home, I have noticed the days I got in more liquids that I have a more normal temperature. and I got the same instructions too about not being alarmed unless it's more than 101. Other than this I hope everything else is ok.

It is very common after surgery to run a low grade fever. I ran one after having my gallbladder was removed, but not with VSG. My nurse friend told me to expect it to last for about 3 days. That's exactly what happened.

As long as your temp doesn't go over 100, I believe you're okay and don't need to call the doctor.

Are you taking any pain relievers?

Yes, I can take Lortab every six hours as needed. my pain has been pretty minimal. I feel very lucky.

Since y'all started posting to this question I really upped my fluids and now my fever is down.

I don't know what I would do without this forum some days.

Thanks from Texas, y'all!!
