It was fascinating and helpful. I don't recall where I found the link, but it was somewhere on this message board, I'm pretty sure.

VIDEO

My question is--it's from October 2009.  Has the process changed much since then?  Is this good to show my husband or is there a newer one that is markedly different?

All the videos that I've seen look pretty much the same to me. Different surgeons have different techniques they use (usually depends on how they staple/suture), but I haven't noticed any visual differences in the video.

haven****ched the video yet, will update if anything changes. From 2009-2011 some doctors may have upgraded to less external access points. The video I watched, it may be the same one you are referencing, showed a total of 4 small incisions and one big one in the bellybutton for a laproscopic surgery. My actual surgery only had 2 small incisions and 1 belly button.

but yes, each doctor has their own signature on their handywork.

edit: as i suspected, its pretty current. The only difference between this surgery and mine was the number of incisions needed.

Oh, good.  Fewer incisions is a good thing.  I don't care about the appearance but remember when I had a couple from another surgery, they itched.  :-)

I'm glad it was interesting to you.  I thought I might find it difficult to watch, but I didn't.
