Did you still lose weight 1 year out?

My BMI is in the healthy range now but I would still like to lose another 20 lbs for looks. He He

My loses have slowed down to like a couple lbs a month. I wonder if it's over or if most people continue to lose.

Any one who is a  year out or more, please tell me how it went for you at the one year mark.

Thanks!!!!

I'm 18 months out and still losing. Yes, it slows down, but there's nothing magic about being a year out or 2 or 3 that says it's over.

Still losing at 13 months even though I'm trying not to. Yeah, I know that frustrates people.

I think my thing is that I'm now in the "highly active" category in terms of my movement - not working out in a gym, but constantly walking and moving. I rarely sit when I don't have to.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

"I rarely sit when I don't have to." Seeing where you came from and where you are now just makes my heart swell. I hope I can be as lucky as you are, Mom4Jazz. I love that comment that I quoted above. That's where *I* want to be someday.

Yes -- I achieved a normal BMI at 10.5 months post-op and continued to lose until I went into deliberate 'maintenance' at 1500-2000 calories a day.

Hmm. That's interesting.

I wondered how many calories it takes to maintain. I know it will be different for each person but I was a little worried that I would have to eat under 800 calories a day forever or gain. He He

I reached goal in 8-9 months. I gained 3 lbs from around Thanksgiving and Christimas and was able to lose them no problem...I also "magically" lost an additional 5 lbs over the past 6 months...my eating habits are the same...don't know why but I'll take it!

18 months out and still losing.  Very slowly, but the scale is still going down and I'm like Mom, I'm not trying.  In fact I'm just trying to maintain, but haven't found the right calorie balance yet.  It's a work in progress but if you go back to your losing phase plan, you will definitely take that 20 off.  Good luck to you!

You must permanently change your lifestyle if you want your weight loss to be permanent. You can do it!

I was 168 at my one year. I cut carbs to 20-30 a day with calories 800-900 to get the rest off.

Yeah, it might need to start tracking my calories or something.

I just count my protein and limit my carbs. I guess I have kind of not been too strict on tracking my calories so far and it's been fine. Maybe it's time to up my game to get to the goal.

Thanks for your advice!
