CARBS

It's all going to come down -at this point - to a matter of how quickly you want to reach your goal.

800-100K and 80-100g of carbs will most likely result in some weight loss. 6-800 and under 40g will get you there much faster.

I'm not really a low cal or low carb kind of person...but I've accepted the fact that it might take me a lot  longer to reach my "goal" weight.  There's no one right way to do this - but there are methods and plans you can follow that depend on what you want (ie reach goal asap or take your time)

I disagree and think you need to follow the medical advice you have been given.  I initially did 600-800 calories and under 40 carbs.  I had issues with hypoglycemia so upped the carbs.  By 3 months I was 800-1000 cals and carbs in the range you posted.  My weight loss rate was just fine, and I gained a lot of nutritional benefit.   For the folks that follow the Frisco plan if it works and that is what your medical team is serving up, then absolutely.  But it is not the only path and maybe not the best one for your needs.  If you don't try what the NUT said you may never know if it will result in solid weight loss with improvoved nutrition- if it doesn't work you can always adjust.  On a side note,  a lot of people who met goal following the Frisco plan also report that maintenece levels are about the same as my weight loss levels of calories- personally, I think the metabolism gets fried from prolonged lack of nutrition.  There is a great book out there on mending your metabolism that you may want to check out for more info, but the gist is that the metabolism is like a fire... feed it small amounts of fuel frequently and it burns better than a larger dose of fuel al at once.

Totally cool to disagree.  I don't totally subscribe to any plan, I just know I would never lose an OUNCE if I ate 80-100carbs.

Now hypoglycemia is another issue to contend with.

Not sure which carbs you upped, but most on the "Frisco" plan, which is actually his doctors plan who is a pioneer in the sleeve, but I digress.

As anyone progresses in life you live and LEARN and absolutely what works for Dr Cringles patients might not work but like you said you won't know until you try.  I believe in trying as many methods as you can and discovering bits and pieces from them ALL.

Like you said, you tried "low" carbing and  YOUR body didn't agree with it...which obviously means your body NEEDS more carbs.

HT is also 6'2'' with a admittedly larger sleeve.....her "theory" seems to work just fine for her......but she hasn't lost all the weight yet nor attempted maintenance. Increasing calories is easy.....pulling back is much harder !!!!

Your situation is that you are not losing weight on your current plan...... try what your Nut suggests....it's either gonna work or not.

My point is that HT tries to justify a higher caloric/carb intake which seems to work for her......but she is 6'2'' and has a 6 day a week exercise program. For most "Woman" 6''-12'' shorter..... those numbers she promotes are going to be harder.

With her height and her exercise routine.....she is probably very close to the same or below net net as a 5'7'' woman on a 600-800 plan with moderate activity.

Jimbo.... a 6'2'' male lost 350lbs. in 2 years........ following most your responses here.

Oh.... and it's not a "Frisco Plan" it's the most common and most successful  VSG plan out there used by many Bariatric Programs.

Bottom line...... do what yah gotta do to lose the weight and maintain...... you eat 2000cals a day and lose the weight..... YOU WIN !!!!

Lose the weight first...... than get experimental in maintenance to find your tolerances.

Sounds like you need to detox off of carbs/sugar.......

Carbs stimulate the need for more carbs(sugar) if you are/were borderline diabetic...... might mean you really are carb sensitive and a good reason all by itself to taper off the carbs.

Also...... carbs don't generally create satiety...... eating dense protein first to close your pyloric valve helps retain food in your sleeve longer...... most carbs don't do this and "Slide" right through.....
