Sir Isaac Newton is no longer My *****
I have a steep hill in my back yard. It had gotten a bit overgrown and I was mowing it. Since the grass was tall and we have had a lot of rain lately, it was still a bit damp down by the roots. Usually this wasn't such an issue - I would just kind of plant myself and I could brace the mower.
Not anymore.
The lawnmower went in one direction, and I - obeying that pesky second law - went the other.
It seems that plenting my feet no longer renders me an immovable object! I used to use my stomach and my weight for all kinds of mechanical advantage. I could prop things on it when hanging TV's or other items on the wall. I could brace my feet and create massive amounts of leverage when moving heavy items (vending machines, full file cabinets, etc).
I have to keep in mind now that this is another behavior that marks me as the "formerly fat" - like turning sidewaus to go through a narrow door or turnstile, or walking hunched over.
I'll consider this an NSV! At least I fell on my ass in private and in grass, not on pavement!

Now mind you, I still float better than most people. But back in the day I could go in the deep end of the pool, hang vertically with my arms crossed & feet straight down below me...and I'd bob with my head completely above water. If I try that now, down I go until I float back up in a more horizontal position.
It's tragic, really.

The other day I was doing laundry and got irritated that I actually had to carry the basket instead of propping it up on my "hip" and having a spare hand to do other things with :-p Oh the life of skinny *****es!

One great thing about really wide hips is you actually get a thigh gap. All those posts on MFP about how to get a thigh gap, the easiest way is to be born with really broad hips.
One bad thing about them is that I will never be completely in a size 6. I can wear some, but most times the waist is too big on an 8 but the hips are too small on a 6.
Sigh.

I love the thigh-gap, now the big wads of skin and loose thigh stuff down a little lower there kinda hides it.. but my girlfriend saw me in a bathing suit a couple months ago and loudly exclaimed that I had "factory air"!! I had never heard that term before..
I have big hips too.. wide. Never put them to use either save for carrying stuff on them!
I have been recently bested by heavy office building doors, to the point I tried fighting one yesterday, and lost.. got pushed back and looked like an idiot as the kid behind me (9yrs old-ish) hit the auto-opener thing they have on some of them.. Rob, I getcha. I forget I don't have inertia working for me anymore too!
My daughter also learned the hard way that me being lighter means she can't jump on the back of my beach chair anymore, she used to come up behind me and climb on behind me and sit there, she tried it the other day (she is now close to 70 lbs, so just about half what I weigh) and the whole damn thing went over, and we both ended up laying in the sand. Gave us (and the people around us) a good laugh.
