How quickly things change
I was reflecting this weekend, and thinking back over the past year.
This time last year, I started getting sick. We learned that I had asthma and I contracted pneumonia, and in early October was admitted to the hospital for the first time. That started 9 months of being in and out of the hospital with multiple cases of pneumonia, asthma complications, and lots of blood sugar issues.
I had surgery on July 12, and have dropped a little over 40 pounds, my diabetes is gone, I'm off all asthma meds, and I feel better than I have in years.
I can finally see my face again....the fat around it is going way.
In a few weeks, my husband and I are doing a 5 k. It will be my first 5k ever....it's a walk, but it's still a 5k. We have some friends that are driving in from another state to join us in Dallas for the Walk From Obesity. I'm really excited.
Then in November, I'm registered for the Color Run in Dallas. I'll be doing this one in memory of Dyrk Burcie...a Dallas firefighter's young son that lost his battle with cancer yesterday. He became an inspiration for a lot of people, and DYRK STRONG has become a rallying cry for firefighters around the world.
Less than a year ago, I couldn't walk across our apartment without needing a breathing treatment....and now I'm going to do a 5k...who would have thought it was possible???
I love my sleeve, and for the first time in a long time, I love my life.
