Hey guys
I'm on the other side!!!

I'm still pretty dopey but I do have a quick question

My surgery went well, but the mentioned they also repaired a hernia? I think it starred with a h?

I haven't seenu doctor yet and the nurse said it was common, but I want to know more!

Any ideas or info? Will this affect my recovery? I tried to research myself but my loopy brain couldn't focus. I actually dozed off twice writing this!haha

Congrats on being sleeved! welcome to the other side :)

It was a hiatel hernia, its commonly fixed at the same time. its like where part of your stomach goes into your chest through a tiny hole in your diaphragm. no biggie.

Heartburn is one of the symptoms of Hiatal Hernia.

Congrats on your surgery - welcome to the losers bench!

Welcome aboard!  I hope you have a quick and easy recovery.

To answer you question, having it repaired is a good thing and should have no impact at all on your recovery.  They fixed one I didn't know I had -- if they hadn't told me they fixed it, I would never have known.  If you've had heartburn/reflux, it should be a lot less now that your hernia was repaired.

CONGRATS! I hope for a speedy recovery for you! :) What Hospital are you in? Who was your Surgeon? What Hotel are you staying in? Did you take anyone with you? What time of day was your surgery? How long was the surgery?

Congratulations to you!! I was sleeved last wed. I also had a hiatal hernia, I guess bigger than expected.  My surgeon told my husband that he thinks my asthma will be better with that repaired. It is the only thing giving me pain at  6 days out (well I think so, because I think it was repaired right near my largest incision where they remove the stomach) but it is managable pain. You may want to ask if wearing anything like a compression belt could help feel like it holds it in, depending upon the size of it.
Congrats and welcome to the loser s bench:)

Congratulations!

Same thing happened with my surgery.  Made the first couple days a little harder (I stayed an extra night in the hospital) but no issues after that!
