Plaque Build up on Teeth Post VSG?

I have never in my life had a problem with Plauque Build up. I brush regularly and I get regular cleaning and checkups. All of the sudden I have plaque on my teeth worse than I have ever seen. Has anyone else encountered this?

Could it have something to do with the protein shakes? I have also noticed some build up on my tongue.

Sorry if this grosses you out.

I have a coating of something icky in my mouth, tongue, teeth and I attribute it to ketosis. I have been flossing and brushing and gargling more frequently to combat this.

Yep...It has a lot to do with the protein shakes.  I get it really bad on my bottom teeth.  Yuck.  I try to brush after each protein shake.  Not practical, but it works.  I like those little portable wisp tooth brush things for when I'm driving or at work or whatever.  :)

I have noticed it, too!   And, I have not had a shake for well over a year.
Much, much worse on the inside of my bottom teeth.

If you're getting a thick fuzziness on your tongue that you can brush off, but your tongue is sore underneath - get your Dr to check it. It could be thrush.

Behind my front teeth.  Not protein shakes, because I don't drink them.

No, but you are probably eating more protein than you normally would.

 Definitely true.

I wonder if the low carb diet changes the ph of our saliva or something and causes more build up?
