SERIOUS resctiction some days....

Some days I wake up and I have such serious restriction that liquids or food just are SO hard to get down. I've had 1/2 a veggie patty and a couple sips of water this morning and I feel like it's all sitting in my throat. I just can't get anything down. I randomly have these severe restriction days every once in awhile, but was wondering if any one else had them. I know there is NO WAY I'm going to hit my fluid or protein goals since I can't get much down. I hate these days. I have 1 a week it seems. The rest of the time I have normal restriction and eat about 1/2 cup per meal.

No, sorry I don't with my VSG.  I had that feeling lots and lots of time with my band, and hated it.  I had a lot of restriction, especially in the morning, but by nighttime I could eat and eat.  Do warm liquids make any difference?  I knew that helped with the band.  Is there maybe something the doctor can do to take a look at your sleeve?

Yes, morning is THE WORST when it happens. But by night time I'm fine again.

I've tried hot tea and no change.

I just had my sleeve checked less than 1 month ago, had gallbladder surgery and they redid a leak test on my sleeve to rule that out as well. So, I know my sleeve is in good working order.

LOL I know you meant FOOD, but I'm imagining you eating with your foot in a bucket of water, and it's cracking me up.

My restriction varies a lot from day to day - even when eating the exact same thing. I think it's just the nature of the beast. It puzzles me, but doesn't worry me.

My guess is the veggie patty might be too dry.

The restriction was hours before I attempted to eat. I could only get down sips of water, I use greek yogurt on top of my veggie patties, so it was definitely extra moist.

I get this too.  My NUT told me its hormonal.  Mine is always really low during TOM.  Other things like fluid retention will effect it.

I suffered with that when I had my band, constantly!   I haven't noticed this much at all with my sleeve.  I believe it has to do with your body having swelling or bloating.  It's hard on the tight restriction days, but get as much fluid as possible.  Keeping extra hydrated helps with all of the swelling. Good luck!!
