My surgeon suggests waiting at least 18 months before trying. Not sure about bc pills, I never took them. Most doctors say that the estrogen can make u hungrier but everyone reacts differently. Good luck!

My Doctor said one year and I use the NuvaRing... it is the only BC that can be continuously used throughout surgery.  Part of me having the surgery is so that I will be healthier to have children.

Best of Luck!

agree with Appygirl, my surgeon said one year or goal weight and I also have been using the NuvaRing since about 4 months pre op.
I have PCOS and had this surgery to improve our chances of getting pregnant as I am annovulatory.

I was told wait a year or until you reach goal weight, I use bc pills and they do not effect my weight I even went off of them for a couple months just to be sure but I was very careful when I did.

I have read 12 months but my surgeon suggested 18 months. The pill can make you gain but only by 2 or 3 pounds
