So What Exactly Do We Have in Common?
I've been watching the talk about "lightweights" vs "heavyweights", and it got me thinking. You can judge by my ticker what I am if you care to pigeonhole me into a specific category.
Some of us weigh more than others - that's a fact. Some of us are short, some tall. Your shoe size might be 5 - mine's a 10 (and some consider me freakishly short too, although apparently I'm "average" height). Some of us are young, some old. Some white, some black, and all shades in between. Conservative? Liberal? Religious?
So what common ground do we have here?
We all want to be loved. We all want to do better. We all want to be considered "normal", however you define that. Our health matters to us - if it didn't we wouldn't have taken steps to improve it.
We all work incredibly hard every single day. We want to celebrate our success, and yours too, if you'll let us.
We want a soft place to fall - a safe place to go where we know that we have kindred spirits to lift us up and help us heal from our wounds.
So I say to anyone who has posted what others consider a negative comment - go for it. It's part of the journey, the struggle, the healing to vent your frustration. I may not relate to your struggle, but you can't relate to mine all the time either. Doesn't matter - I'll still attempt to be your soft place to fall when you need me, as will so many others that take their time to post what they've learned in an attempt to help others.
Happy Friday everyone! And now for your regularly scheduled program...
This is a lovely post. Yes, we all need a soft place to land when we fall. Thanks for bringing this to our group awareness.
I find this forum so healing and supportive. I have lived a life of being "different" because of my serious obesity. It means so much to me to have a forum where I can share with others who understand the stresses and struggles of obesity and recovery. We need to work as a group to support each other in our efforts to overcome.
thank you,
Carol
