I think the universe wants me to get off my butt
I've been trying to exercise more to get in shape for surgery, but haven't been as consistent as I should be. I've never been good at working out on my own. I always do better if I have structured classes, where I have to go at a specific time and do a specific work out, but I'm so out of shape it's hard to find any classes I can do. (excuses, I know)
So, yesterday at the pharmacy I ran into my old karate instructor. I haven't practiced in six years, haven't seen my instructor in two, but I miss it and it's something I want to get back to after I lose weight. Then, today, I ran into my old yoga instructor at the grocery store. I haven't seen her in years either. Yoga is also something I miss, but I keep having injuries and surgeries. Then it hit me: I'm far enough out from my knee scope to be cleared for activity, and my VSG isn't until January. So I came home and signed up for yoga. Her latest class just started this week. I'll probably have to modify a lot of the poses, but she's a really good instructor who knows how to do that.
Now I have to work out, or I just blew money I could have saved for my surgery, and I have a scheduled time to go. I also signed up for the annual fitness challenge at work--there are about 30 categories covering nutrition, fitness, financial health, etc. I don't expect to win any categories (except maybe the no pop category, because I don't drink pop anyway), but I figure having to turn in my records should motivate me. It'd be too embarrassing to come in last in everything.
Good for you. I'm so glad you are moving toward better health! You'll be so glad you did.
best wishes,
Carol
