One year already w(pic)
I cant believe its been a year since my surgery. i started this journey at 278# and in eight months i was below my goal at 150#. My wife, Dr and Nut all agreed that was to light and wanted me to go to 170. I have since added 12-15 pounds and have been maintaining that for the last two months.Went from 46-48 pants to 30-32 and xx and xxx shirts to medium. For the first 10 months I strictly did cardio(treadmill and cycling) then about 2 months ago i started lifting weights. My only regret is i wished i had started the weights a little sooner. I lost a lot of muscle that I am slowly gaining back.
I eat whatever I want now. Which is totally different than what i wanted 12 months ago. i still don't eat bread, rice, or pasta. i could I just don't miss them so I don't. I followed all the rules from my Dr and Nut (okay I really don't eat slowly enough). I'm from New Orleans so there is always an abundance of great food around i choose healthy choices for the most part.
Another positive since i have had the surgery my wife, sister and sister-in-law have been sleeved. They are all down more than 60# each and are 6 months out. So we are all getting healthier together.
In closing i recommend this surgery to all people that ask me about my weight loss. I had a great surgical team with Dr.treen and his staff. They did a great job preparing me for my journey. There is nothing i was unprepared for except on how fast the weight came off.
Congrats on your surgiversary! And may I say WOW, what a transformation! Incredible!

Great job!! That's awesome that your success inspired others in your family too!
I totally agree about strength training. It's super important. I'm only 3 weeks post open but I've been working out at the YMCA since February and I did strength training along with cardio at every workout. Once I am cleared for more than just walking I am totally getting right back to strength training.
