what to eat post-op
Hi Cathy - welcome! It all depends on your surgeon's plan - some are liquids only for some time after surgery, some go to pureed or soft foods much sooner. Some of my favorites in all categories?
Premier Protein (ready to drink, and can be found at Sam's, Costco, Walmart, and many grocery stores).
Dannon Light and Fit Greek Yogurt
Frigo Cheeseheads Light String Cheese
Canned green beans (these saved my life during the pureed food stage)
Campbell's Slow Kettle Style Tuscan Bean and Chicken Soup
Cottage Cheese
Mio, to add to your water if you get bored of plain water
I will start a short list for you and others can add to it.
Broth (beef, chicken, vegetable)
SF Jello
SF Pudding
SF Popsicles
Protein drinks & powder
SF Torani Syrups (I have 10 flavors)
Hormel Chili White Chicken
Black Beans (can to blend)
Picanti Sauce
Refried beans
Chicken (can)
Tuna (can)
Greek yogurt (great w/Torani syrups)
Eggs
Almond Milk (30 calorie per glass)
Cottage cheese
Beware of items marked as "lite" and check the carb counts. Instead of using milk in my coffee I use Half & Half. Also check carb count on that as some have added ingredients that increase carb count. I only purchase the 1g product.
Good luck, I now pass the torch to our other friends.
