3 + Years Post Op Update
I can't believe so much time has passed since the VSG! It still remains the best surgery I ever did for myself. The health benefits were tremendous. Got off BP meds, got off Diabetes meds, got off arthritis meds, and a host of other medications. Able to walk again, gained my perfect eyesight back (had a rare disease that is suspected to be worse by being overweight) and just overall improved my quality of life by leaps and bounds. Went down to a size 4-6, or smalls, that I never thought possible in my life.
Right now, I am not sure what is going on with me, so I will have to update after a few tests.
I do know that I have an umbilical hernia and it is causing me a lot of pain and I can't lift anything or haven't exercise for months. That combined with on the heels of a very slow post plastics recovery has put me up 15 pounds more than my safe zone and 25 over my lowest post VSG weight. I am hovering in a size 8 or medium now. Plastics was very disappointing when it was supposed to be this highlight moment when my journey was done. Hahaha.
The past month has been very difficult, as I am having bad episodes of nausea and stomach pain after eating or drinking anything, so I am honestly surprised that I am not losing weight. I dread eating at this point. It doesn't matter what it is, whether a protein shake, or a 1/2 steak, or a salad. Now my sleeve has always been a bit tricky, and I never recovered to just eating anything (produce was always challenging and chicken), but it is out of hand now, and I hope something is not wrong with it.
So that is a quick update. If anyone wants to ask any questions about life 3 years out, I'm here. I am having surgery again at the end of this month, to fix my hernia, so I should be able to frequent the boards more. Life has normally, been too hectic and I haven't been here much.
Thank you both.
The primary doctor thinks it might be a stricture, probably going to get scoped, will find out next week when I see the specialist. New insurance makes me have to see primary first which I did today. Honestly, from reading I thought it might be my gallbladder acting up which sometimes is common with WLS patients. But she didn't think that.
