Struggling with protein

I just started soft foods yesterday but I am still struggling with getting my protein in. I have been drinking Lean Shakes from GNC. They have 25g of protein and low sugar. Not too bad taste but I am having trouble drinking one a day because I am sick of the sweetness. I tried a premier shske today and it was horrible. I have unflavored powder but I am not having any success mixing it into anything. I really need help on how to get my protein in. Any suggestions appreciated.

Have you tried the Unjury chicken broth?  That's a nice reprieve from sweet.  I don't understand what you mean by not having success mixing in the unflavored.  Have you mixed it in Greek yogurt?  That works well.  What about into a little cheese and a soft scrambled egg?  Cream of mushroom soup?  I could mix it into any of those w/ no issue.  Maybe try making it into a simple smoothie?

I really like the Optimum Nutrition whey powder in Double Rich Chocolate.  It's not very sweet tasting to me at all.  I mix it with almond milk.

I had a hard time with protein at first too. The Unjury chicken broth works well for me. I actually mix a scoop in with my cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup...

I could not tolerate sweet drinks after my surgery, so I used unflavored protein powder, and I put it in everything that would take it - chicken broth, jello, pudding, yogurt, mashed cauliflower, etc.  I was able to make my protein numbers this way, even early out.

best of luck

I'm in the same place as you right now- sleeved on 5/5 and only getting 20-25 grams of protein a day. I'm supposed to be on shakes and liquids but my nutritionist had me add greek yogurt but I can only eat a few ounces of that. I just went to Vitamin Shoppe and GNC and got a bunch of samples and the only one that was tolerable to me was Jay Robb chocolate- I mixed it with PB2 and milk and it was tolerable with 38 grams of protein in 8 ounces. I only got one of each sample, so I ordered more but it hasn't arrived yet. I tried and didn't like Premier Protein Chocolate and Vanilla, Unjury Chocolate and Vanilla, EAS Carbadvatage, Syntrax Nectar vanilla beans torte and chocolate, Jay Robb orange cream. I see the nutritionist next Wed and then I can advance to eggs, cheese, soups, etc, so I'm hoping I will be able to meet my goals then. Good luck!!

Remember your body can only use about 30 grams of protein at a time.  If you have a shake with 38 grams it needs to be consumed over a long period of time or don't count the 8 in your numbers.  Early out I only consumed 4 oz at a setting so this would work.

None of these links are of a medical nature so I will stick to what the medical people have stated for now.  I do realize medicine changes their opinions regular also.

All of the links I provided refer to scientific studies and provide links/citations to those studies. It's interesting stuff!
