5 days post-op from sleeve and I really want to eat more "real" foods?

Hello:

I had sleeve done on Monday and my recovery has been FANTASTIC!  My only concern is that I would really, really like to have some more real sustainable food and I feel ready for it.  Like, I would kill for a scrambled egg.  Any advice on this?  I am scared to because I don't want to damage the healing process, but this clear/full fluid diet is the pits!

Any input would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

Emily

My advice is to stick to your plan. You really don't want to risk damaging yourself by eating food your stomach can't deal with. And you can't trust your stomach now anyway since its nerves were severed.

Stick to the plan. Don't screw this up.

Work hard now to establish better habits and better ways to cope with cravings. See a therapist, start walking, cultivate a new hobby.

That's a great point about the nerves, etc.  Thank you for the input!

Congrats on your surgery! My suggestion is don't do it. If your plan doesn't call for a scrambled egg at this time than i would not pu**** Especially since you are not even a week out. A scrambled egg is not worth giving yourself a leak over. I know it is hard and the liquid phase seems like it lasts FOREVER and is definitely the worst part but there is a reason for it and you would hate to mess things up and cause yourself harm or slow your recovery time down and have to be on liquids even longer! Everyone has to go through it and just think you are losing more weight while on liquids right now. Try different things like gatorade, broth, sf jello, or soups(strained). I really do feel for you and I went absolutely crazy on the clear diet part but it was all worth it in the end! Good luck and don't do it. Just wait it out and let yourself heal! I don't condone the chewing and spiting out but i did do it a few times during that phase and it seemed like it helped a little but just be VERY careful you don't swallow! Good luck and just know it will come to an end soon enough!

I hated this part too!!! Especially the protein drinks. After surgery, I almost couldn't stand it. I would talk to the nutritionist. They usually have a ton of ideas you would even think possible. Also, try to keep yourself busy so you don't think about food. It really is a mind game. Spend a lot of time walking. Not much longer. You can do it!!

I hear you, I am 4 days out and would KILL for scrambled eggs. But I know its a no-no so I wouldn't even consider it.

I'm on full fluids for 2 weeks, then I can try purees. Then 2 weeks after that I can try soft foods.
