Nutribullet and slider foods

I'm 12 days post-op with a new sleeve. For some reason, I want to buy a Nutribullet. I already have a Magic Bullet, but it doesn't crush ice very well. I would like to make smoothies to get in more veggies when I'm farther out, but in my research some people are saying that smoothies are  just slider foods. Is that something sleevers need to be aware of, or is that a bypass issue?  Will liquid veggies really be better than chewing them up myself?  If I make a smoothie, will it count as part of my fluids?

Smoothies CAN be a slider food - just liquid calories - depending on what you put in them. Stay away from high-sugar fruits and all fruit juices, IMO.  OTOH, if you make it with some kale, a little protein powder, maybe some other veggies I don't see the issue.  Maybe some blueberries, since they're pretty healthy.  I use unsweetened almond milk as the base, and  I count the almond milk as a liquid.  So if you use a cup of almond milk, that's a cup of your liquids for the day, even though the smoothie will end up being much more than a cup.

Most vites are supposed to be taken with food, so that they can bind with the food's molecules (either water-based or fat-based) and be absorbed properly, and a smoothie is a great drink to get your vites down with.  I never cared for ice in my smoothies - it just made a slush that floated on top, and when it melts it dilutes the smoothie.  I never could drink a smoothie fast enough to get the benefit from the ice, LOL.  I use frozen blueberries to help thicken it.

How do you keep the seeds and skin out of your smoothies? I am picky on texture these days.

I'm 5 wks out and made my first smoothie today with my nutri bullet. I used spinach with 2 frozen chunks of pineapple and 1/4 of a banana with 8oz water. I also include the unjury protein powder (21g) and I throw in a little miralax. It definitely makes way more than a cup of juice but I make sure I fini**** to get all my protein. I asked my NUT about the sugar in the fruits and she said that at this point because I'm barely getting 500 calories in that it should be ok but later on when I'm eating more it will be like empty calories or slider food. But of course everyone's plan is different. Good luck!

Smoothies are sliders foods and dangerous for several reasons.

(1) As a slider, it's too easy to consume calories

(2) As a slider, you can consume those calories too quickly leaving you mentally wanting more

(3) Most people are unaware of just how many calories they are packaging into their smoothie

(4) Peole tend to load the up with stuff that's not conducive to weight loss, for example, tropical fruits like bananas and pineapples
