I am eating too much

I just started puréed foods, and I had a hearty bean soup for dinner.  I know that I had 5 ounces.  I don't feel full, but I did stop.  I can't get my nutritionist to tell me how many ounces I should be eating at this point.  I've posted several times about this because I'm so upset about eating too much.  Is 5 ounces too much to be eating of a puréed liquid?  How much TOTAL should I be taking in at each meal?  I need some help, please give me your opinions.

My plans says that during the pureed stage, i should be having 1/2 to 3/4 cup at a meal. Hope that helps.

I was also able to handle 8oz of soup but I soon stopped myself at 1/2c...was scared I was eating too much.

My nurse said a cup of soup is ok..course it took me 30min to eat it. When I moved up to soft food I could only handle 1/2c or a few oz of soft, like tuna or fish

I was allowed 2-4 ounces at that stage.  I started with 2 and worked my way up.  Your stomach is still healing, so you can't trust any sense of fullness right now.

I'm with GwenMo, and also remember you're supposed to only eat for 20 minutes, so if the 20 minutes are up, you are done even though you might still have food left. You need to undereat your sleeve. ;)

The liquid stage can be a bit dicey to figure out as people have different tolerances.

the best thing to do is figure out how much protein you need, divide it up across the meals you're planning, and then try to get that amount in.

In you can't, slow down and try again later, but don't stretch your meals into multiple hours.  If it's not happening, don't force it.

If you have no trouble, that's fine also.  It's not uncommon with the liquids phase.

The reality is, everything will change and you'll feel the restriction more as you move through each of the next phases.  You will also fell differences in you hunger as you progress in that it will diminish more and more.

It's important to follow instructions at this stage - switch your focus - get up, walk, do a hobby, call someone, etc. realize this may be head hunger and you are going to have to develop skills because this isn't going to go away on its own. Consider pureeing chicken or other dense proteins to help you feel fuller. Add liquids to smooth out as you blend. Also, increasing your water intake may help as well.

hang in there -
