So last weekend I ended up in the ER with severe abdominal pain that started at 7pm Saturday night. By 3.30am, I was done and had to go to the ER cause it didn't subside. 7 hours later, I was in the operating room having a stricture repaired! My intestine, where it attaches to my pouch, had spun and was infected and inflamed and full or food and water. Another doctor from the group that did my original surgery came out and fixed me up and "tacked down" my intestine so it didn't spin again.
So I'm back to broth, soft cheese, yogurt and sips of water, just like after my initial Roux-en-Y in 2012. However, I'm grateful that I was fixed up again so quickly and other then the soreness from surgery, the pain is gone :)
Hi, I can't even imagine what you are going through. Have you considered seeing an endocrinologist for your sugars? I would also get a new dietician to follow you. You need encouragement instead of negativity. Have you also considered a second opinion? Maybe you need a fresh look at what is going on. Good luck. Mona

Greetings,
I'm 8 years post op and thankful that I've been able to keep my weight off. But I tell you, it's a struggle everyday to do so. I have to remind myself to exercise and eat right. Some days are better than others, but the key is to never stop trying to be healthy. If you gain some weight, do you best to exercise/eat right to lose that weight. You will be ok.
This forum is the only one I know of on here that is for old timers like us.
Many blessings to you my dear. Keep up the good work!

hello.. I am cross posting this.
Results from my oral contrast CT showed a "distended small bowel loop in the left upper quadrant below the diaphragm which is chronic". It also says it was there in a 2014 CT but appears slightly larger now. I had eaten and drank a small amount prior to this CT. I have had only residual pain in the left quadrant nothing alarming, I am able to eat and drink, but upper abdomen is distended after. The CT was to check for upper right quadrant and lower pelvic pain. Lower right pelvic finding was "chronic focal hyperdensity in the perineal region, unchanged and may be calcification".
My question is, has anyone had either of these diagnosis and either had it treated or left it untreated?
My bypass dr is wanting to do a DIAGNOSTIC laparoscopy but my thought is to find out exactly what we are dealing with first of possible.
next test is drink something and be X-rayed in the process to see how things are flowing through the pouch area.....
please please share your thoughts..thank you!

Hi everyone,
I'm horrified and desperate for an answer from someone who has, unfortunately, experienced this. I had an RNY in April of 2009. I developed Reactive Hypoglycemia from it, which I have under control and is the least of my worries right now. I had to go to urgent care the other day for a concussion. I was weighed while there, and weighed in at 124.6. This means I've lost 12 pounds since October. For the past week (roughly), I then went to 123.6. Now today I'm at 122 pounds even. I'm horrified. My Hypoglycemia dietician said, "well you're not underweight". I admit I've slacked off for a while with good fats, which helps my Hypoglycemia, and also anything fattening. I got lazy. Also, for a while I simply didn't have an appetite and was barely eating. Makes sense why I'd be loosing, right? I've been stuffing my face since I spoke to the dietian 5 days ago. She said to eat more and up the good fats, because that's where the calories are. Seriously? I know this. The issue here is that I'm rapidly loosing. It's like I'm right back to square 1, when I'd just had my bypass, and was Malabsorbing. Each time my surgeon sees me, he's concerned about my blood glucose readings (they're excellent by the way), and tells me if I start getting low numbers that he'll have to reverse my bypass. When he looks at me and says this, he makes me feel like I'm about to take my last breath. Although my BG#'s are good, now I'm dealing with this rapid weight loss. I'm scared beyond words and beyond any form of comprehension that he'll have to reverse it. He said he'd have to remove my Pancreas

The little white button mushrooms that are sold in most grocery stores will lower estrogen levels.
Just eat 4 ounces every day. If you prefer them cooked, don't cook longer than 7 minutes.
They cut down my appetite. I found the info on the National Institute of Health website.
hi there....
I have had the same issues and have had nearly 20K in dental to try to fix and eventually remove and replace my teeth.
I can relate about the shame of not wanting anyone to know. it is very embarrassing and to hear, "don't worry about it, people will like you for you" from someone that has ALL of their teeth is frustrating... UGH!!!
I now only have 6 teeth left. I have a full plate on top and a partial on bottom. had my last tooth pulled 10 months ago and 5 months prior to that, my remaining teeth were OK.
my dentist's thought is that I have suffered from SEVERE dry mouth since my WLS that has contributed to my tooth loss.
