What is about this group that connects us so? We all may visit our surgery specific boards for technical stuff but we fall back here for most everything else, or at least I do. Do you ever wonder why we "click"?  I can do word association and come up with: trust, honesty, openness... What do you think of when you think of this group?

Friends.  I feel a personal connection to so many folks here.  We care about Roz's cheer teams, who has run a race, what new receipe someone has tried, who has a new house.  I feel like I can put just about anything out there and get support (or a kick in the butt).  Maybe the LW Creed has something to do with it, but from the very beginning as I was trying out the various boards, this is the one that made me a home.

I think of and feel support, open arms and good guidance from a wealth of experience.

With myself having 3 types of WLS now all the specific boards couldn't relate to me and as many of the specific surgery boards really don't understand where I'm coming from having been revised now a couple of times.

Cheers from Karin (in Oz)

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any of you in person yet, but I think about all of you during the day.  I wonder what's new in your lives, how your day is going, etc.

I think it has to do with RESPECT and CARING.....

I also appreciate our unofficial leaders like Gina and Roz (& others)  who set this tone for the lightweight board.  I think there is a high level of RESPECT for all surgeries, opinions, lifestyles, etc.

I know personally I care about everyone who posts here and I am constantly praying for each of you (some by name).

I geniunely want ALL us lightweights to be healthy, happy, and enjoy our new lives to the fullest!

To be honest, I tend to think of everyone as family. Everyone is so helpful and considerate, not afraid to tell exactly what needs to be told. I have said it before, I love this group and that means everyone here.

Friendliness is the first word to come to mind!!! Love it here -- not like any board I've ever come across.

This is my family...but of my choosing. With the family you are given, you can end up with very judgemental, opinionated people. Many whom you don't even like. But with a family you CHOSE, it's different. We care, we respect each other, but we are still honest...without the judgemental attitude that can go with it.
