Congratulations on getting cleared by your surgeon.  Good luck on the rest of your hoops you have to jump through!!

I had diabetes(medicine controlled), sleep apnea, joint pain and a couple of other issues.  I still have some joint pain because of arthritis, but my sleep apnea is gone and I have not had to take any diabetic medicine since the day of surgery.

Our stats are similar....except that you are a little taller!! This board has been a wonderful resource....I usually come here for answers before calling my own doc.

I am 41 and was pre-diabetic (just tipped to diabetic before the surgery), was on high blood pressure meds, snored like a freight train and had stage 3-4 hip arthritis.  I am just shy of six months out and now have normal blood sugars, BP is 105/65, hubby says I don't snore at all and ortho said xrays now show my arthritis has not changed for the last nine months!! All of this wonderful news is just part of it.....you will enjoy shopping, finding new bones you never knew existed, walking the stairs without feeling like you are 90 and they go on and on!!

I worry a bit about my already baby fine/thin hair falling out, but I would have taken a diet pill that promised this kind of weight loss with a side effect of hair loss in an instant!

Psych consults are scheduled for next week.  I'm well on my way to a new me in 2012!!

You will lose some hair....it is a given. And I admit that I did freak a bit when it was at its worst...but I am hoping that since I am at six months that it will stop (it has slowed down). But~~it has motivated me to get a shorter, sassier haircut...maybe next week???

My husband (cbramsey5898) and I use to live in Leland. We were there from 2007 to 2009. We loved the area but too flat and hot to suit us for retirement.

My favorite area is Riverwalk. Liz

What a small world, Liz!  We are in Ogden and love it.  My parents, and my in-laws, both retired down here (mine in Wilmington, his in Calabash). We followed them!

We liked the Ogden area as well...but when I was househunting in 2007, I couldn't find the right house for the right price. So we ended up in Leland. The only part I didn't like about being over there was the bridges coming back into Wilmington...we always had to leave the house at lease 40-60 mins before an appt downtown.
