Do you ever?
Do you ever feel like when you get off track and back into bad habits (snack foods, carbs, no exercise and alcohol) that distancing yourself from everyone will help you get back on track?
I am so far off track it is unbelievable. I am still far from goal but I have gotten caught up with life and stress and I feel like I am back at square one, I feel like i am 267 pounds again (I am about 178) and it's really scaring me.
I think at this point I need to distance myself from my social life and just focus on myself, school and work. I don't really have any friends who have had weight problems except for one and I almost feel like spending time with her brings me down in a way because it just reminds me of these old habits, unfortunately she is WAY too sensitive for me to talk about that subject with her.
so i'm going to be back here on the boards!

Welcome back Rebecca. I know staying connected to this board really helps me to stay on track and to stay accountable.
I know how you feel about focusing on yourself. I feel like I am having to be very selfish since I had this surgery and take so much time for planning and cooking. But I remember that I signed up for this and I am really happy with my surgery and the results.
I have read several places that the alcohol will really put the weight on. I know you can do this and am glad you are back.

Rebecca, Do what YOU need to do to get back on track. If it's distancing yourself from your friends and focusing on you, than do it.... but do whatever you need to.
We all get into ruts and sometimes just need something to jump-start our excitement about getting healthy. Find a new exercise you'd like to try, or focus on getting into a particular size by an event, but make sure you give yourself small obtainable goals.
We are all struggling at different points, that's what makes us human! We can help pull each other up when it happens though!

I have found distancing myself from negative influences is very helpful. Last year, you also had some counseling. Maybe, it is time for that again? No one or one thing is worth giving your power away and putting weight back on. Get some help and keep checking in with this board. People are very supportive here.

hi rebecca,
i think distancing yourself from negative influences and drawing closer to positive influences can be helpful. i think its also helpful to step back and take a look at your patterns of behavior and try to learn something from them...sort of be mindful of how you got to where you are now so that you can forge a better path moving forward. ive never been much of a journal-er but i think journaling can be helpful with this process.
i also think that no one is perfectly consistent and that whats important is to recognize that you got off track, put it behind you and move forward in a positive direction.

I know exactly how you feel!~ It is frustrating but you are right in getting back to your happy place is what I call it. It is self preservation. I don't care if it ****** off the pope! I retreat on occasion to find myself again. No one knows what this journey is like unless you go through it. You are self preserving and that is fine!~
