Background info.
Female
PreOp- BMI 42.3
8 months post op BMI 29.5
lost 77
excercise-- walking plus 2 nights a week body toning/cardio
stalled since mid Sept - have not lost 1 pound in over a month.

Do you think the honeymoon phase is over and my body has now adapted and this is the weight I will be?

is the weight loss phase less than the typical 12-18 months because we are lightweight?

Being a lightweight wouldn't explain a stall, they just seem to happen to folks regardless of being a lightweight starting out. Do you happen to take your measurements every month? Are you losing inches? Just keep the protein up around 100 grams a day, low carb (under 40) and increase your fluids. Stay on track and don't get discouraged. Oh, and put the scales away for a month.

at what point does our body say - this is enough and now this is the weight we will be?

can a plateau last for months or is it at that point that we will be the size we were meant to be?

I am right with you and it is FRUSTRATING!!

Just keep on keeping on....it is bound to come off at some point....I am losing inches even if that darn scale isn't moving!!!

The whole "honeymoon" has to do with how long we malabsorb and doesn't have anything to do with if we are lightweights or not.  Log you food on miles and menus, track to see what your protein, carbs and fluid are.  I have continued to lose, although slowly way past my original goals.  Like gina said, 110+ protein, 30 or so carbs, fluid, exercise and it will happen.

Try to change things up a little bit and see if that helps.  Add a protein drink or a low carb snack for a couple of days and see if that jump starts your losing.  Or change your exercise for a few days.
You've done a great job so far.

I have reached my goal in such a short time - as I was told, many leight weights succeed very quickly.

I guess my question is really, how do you know that the weight is done coming off and you are now the size your body wants?

I reached my set point 9 months after surgery, which is only 3 pounds above goal weight, so I'm not complaining. I range between 2 pounds above and 4 pounds below, which I can tolerate. Of course, I'm eating more than in my loss period, but keep careful limits on what I do take in. My BMI is smack dab in the middle of normal. Now I weigh myself daily to keep myself accountable and adjust accordingly.

I did hit a long stall at 7 months, and weighed myself weekly. The inches kept disappearing.

With regard to you, all I can say is keep on keeping on and see what happens. Bodies can't be figured out.
