Good morning. Is 80 -100 grams of protein the new normal?

Maybe it should be and get us the heck off all the cheap carbs! Link to a good article, I think. paleodietlifestyle.com/paleo-and-protein/  I really wish the First Lady would take a long hard look at this lifestyle change rather than buying in to the ADA and whatever federal bureaucratic nonsense is being dished to her. Here's a radical concept: fat in the diet is not as evil as we're being told. Think about it...read the article, read Atkins.

Darn - it's saying 80-100g for a normie!!  I got a little excited for a moment there.  I think the most I've managed with my sleeve (so pre-DS when I was eating more) was a 120g!!

So the aim would then be double that for a DSer... I guess I'll just keep striving ;-)

Interesting, it says you should have fat with your protein.  I can't have chicken skin (never have even when I was a small child - I was just always picky).  I guess it's mayo to the rescue.

Interesting read. . .very similar to Atkins in that they encourage fat with protein, and not too many limitations along with it!

I finally got time to read the article.  I loved meat when I was younger and I was always very tiny.  It was when I started including way to many carbs in my diet (cheaper and faster) that I started gaining.  Even on the WW plan many many years ago your Protein exhanges made up most of your daily plan.  It does make snese.

Here's another article that challenges today's nutritional recommendations:

Not that I am recommending reddit as I've never used it. But I think he's spot on that you can learn more about our bodies really work from the internet than from doctors and the establishment.

I eat a Primal version of the Paleo diet because I am not ready to give up the half and half in my decaf, or the bit of other dairy that I eat.  I definitely feel better eating this way.  I can keep my weight where I want it eating things like bacon, butter, coconut oil and other fatty foods. The fat keeps me satiated.  Where I get into trouble is adding carbs.  If I'm going to eat bacon, I have to keep the bread and other starches out of the picture.  For me it's a good trade off.  I still get to snack on veggies, berries, cherries etc.

I ate carbs on vacation and put on 4 pounds. I started back to low carb on Monday when I got home and 3.5  of the 4 are gone.  The rest will be gone by morning.  I've eaten anything I wanted this week as long my carbs were under 60.  This is what works for me at the moment.  Hopefully it will continue!

Sometimes my protein comes in a little low, so I need to work on that!
