Hi guys,

I want to make sure I am taking all I need to take, at the cheapest way possible.  When I am looking at costco for vitamins, what should I be looking for. I know I have to take calcium citrate not carbonate. but that is about all I know to look for.

any suggestions would be great.  I am 17 days out

I use CVS generic centrum silver and buy them when they are BOGO.  I also get my calcium and B12 there when it is on sale.  In fact, I look there first.  I have just started iron because mine was fine for a long time and I got it there.  Gina can tell you which ones we do best with.  Vitalady has D3 in 50,000 u which are great if you need to up your D3.  All of her stuff is reasonable but you have to add in shipping.  Hopefully you had labs before surgery so you will know what you need (everyone needs multis, calcuim, B12)

I started with Vitalady's PLAN (you don't have to buy from her) then tweaked based on labs.  I buy most, if not all my vites from Vitalady and Amazon.  I take some things that Vitalady does not carry, so I get them from Amazon.

I don't know if there is a more updated one as I follow my labs now.  Please understand (as I believe you are getting the DS), most surgeons spout RNY info to DSers.  Please bring your surgeons plan here so vets can look at it, if you are going to follow your surgeons plan.  I got all my info from vets and never paid any mind to my surgeon, but that is me.  Also, I eat high fat (as much as I want), high protein (at least 100grams per day) and low carb.  The successful vets that I know eat this way and do Vitalady's plan and tweak for labs.

I am very excited for you!

So, should I start with your above schedule or wait?

I do plan on eating the same as the successful ds'ers.

You have to make sure you take iron 2 hours (either side) away from dairy or eggs so I take my iron at bedtime and when I get up to use the bathroom at night.

Yeah, the iron is a work in progress.  I just added it and am trying to find the best way to do it.

I had a full set of labs done months before surgery.  My vit D was in the toilet and so was my iron.  So, before I had surgery for several months I took 2 multi vits, 1000 cal citrate, 50,000 vit D, and some sort of iron I can't remember, per day.  Then, post op, I worked my way up to vitalady's plan.  Then at 3 months post op, I tweaked, then at 6-7 months post op I tweaked again.
