Good Morning. Burning questions
We seem to have a few new folks on the LW board and I was wondering if you have any burning questions for the group. Don't worry if you think they are silly or have been asked before. If you have these questions, someone else probably does too. For you old-timers, do you remember any of the questions you had as a new member here?

One of my favorites is, what is it with all these swinging lizards and what does it mean? We've sort of let this slide lately but we used to swing all kinds of lizards and critters to say, in code, we are sending up prayers for you during your surgery and recovery. Swinging chickens was a DS board phenomena that they agreed to do to keep the Evangelical Christians and the agnostics and atheists from killing each other.
Anyway, I brought swing chickens to the LW board. One of my all time favorite LWs loved it but was all out of chicken so she said she would swing the lizards crawling up her patio wall. lol It stuck, and LWs started swinging lizards for each other for good luck. So, anybody in the getting-ready-for-surgery mode...having surgery...in recovery...or just needs some good vibes for whatever may be going on, I'm swinging lizards for you, babeeeee!

Thank you SO MUCH for this explanation. I've been wondering but was thinking I'd just figure it out. Thought it had to do with prayer but then said to myself it has to be an inside code for sending "happy" thoughts. It's both!
Welcome to all the new lightweights!!! I remember how wonderful this group was in answering all my "silly" questions. I had a really good Dr group that was very information oriented but I know that they all aren't and sometimes what we need to know personally, isn't covered. What a comfort it was to be able to come here everyday, some times many times a day, to hear the "word" and get support and help. Now, hopefully we can be there for the folks coming up the pipe now.

As a Newbee....I so appreciate all the swinging critters...
I also love all the info you vets put out for us...I myself have had a few questions...and they have been answered fully and to my satisfaction...whether I asked them or not...
Going forward I know I will have more questions and it is such a comfort to know you will be here for ME....
thanks for all your support.

Hello everyone - my name is Gale, I'm almost 55 years old (in 2 wks) and I've been called a lightweight a couple of times on the VSG board. Didn't know you were here until someone said something about this board and I went looking. My stats are below and I'm almost 7 months post op. I didn't start this journey to particularly lose a huge amount of weight but to get rid of co-morbidities and be around a lot longer for my new grandson. I have achieved that goal and am no longer borderline diabetic, I'm off my BP meds, off cholesterol meds, off IBS meds and off my Nexium. As a bonus I'm down 78 lbs with 8 to go till I hit my Dr's goal of 150 (which he said would put me in the 'normal' weight range - if there is such a thing). I enjoy reading everyone's personal journey's and chiming in with my personal experience when I think it helps. I am here to help 'pay forward' the great information and help I received. If you don't mind me 'skulking' a bit I would like to follow this board and learn more about everyone and the great information you all have to share.
Thanks,
8 MORE DAYs...... I am new, I am excited, I want all the postive thoughts I can get..... I have already bombarded you with so many questions. As they come up I am not shy about asking them...
I have a brother and my mother have both been trying to talk me out of the surgery. My brother called today and said his friend died today 8 years post op, related to the surgery. I chuckled and told him I loved him and I would be just fine.
We knew a lot less about staying healthy 8 yrs ago than we do now. Plus, how many folks die from the complications of being overweight. Yep, you will be fine and a lot healthier.
