Good Morning. Sign of life in my bones
My lab results are trickling in to my surgeon's office, but 2 reports are MIA, and the guy in the front office is on the trail back to Quest to try to find them. {sigh} Anyway, so far my B vitamins are still high, except for Niacin/B3, it appears to be in range. I stopped taking B-complex a year ago but my system is holding on to to these Bs with a passion.
My K1 is over the top of the range, so I can cut my dose back to 1 a day and see what that looks like in 6 months.
I have sign of life in my bones! My osteocalcin is now in range. It's been rising ever so slowly since I doubled my vitamin K2. You want your osteocalcin to come in on the low end of the range, which indicates your bone is turning over the way it should but not too fast. When you have osteoporosis, that slight turnover is a good thing. PTH and calcium are better this time too. PTH was 40 and calcium was 9.4. These bone labs are all good news. After taking Fosamax for osteoporosis my bone loss stopped but so did all signs of life. It was like the medication had turned my bone marrow to concrete. Now at least there is an indication that there could be some improvement and maybe even some bone build-back. I stopped Fosamax a year or so ago and have just been supplementing like crazy.
So, now we wait for the missing reports.......
Anyone have some good news to share this morning? Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Hey - good for you! I know you were very concerned about it a few years ago.
It seems like I always have a straggler report coming in - and it's usually something I'm looking for - like my D, B's, etc.
Good news, eh? Hmmm... I slept good last night - lol. Oh, but I got woke up and I figured out why - I had a hot flash - oh boy - here we go!! I had hot (warm) flashes a year + ago and then they stopped. I've had "warmness" before, but this one had my head sweating too - that's what convinced me what it was... Of course I was hot, then got cold and chilled... Hmm... that turned into "notsogood" news... LOL
Oh - I have more good news! I'm drinking my protein drinks again. I'm making protein hot chocolate here at work, now I need to remember to do it on the weekends too. I went to Vitamin Shoppe and bought a tub of the Nectar Chocolate. I've also started drinking more water too.

So glad to see you got a handle on your needs and there's life back! My B12 is the one that is always "not there" and has to be hunted down and I get it done at the hospital where the doctor's office is. How hard can it be to get it from the lab on the first floor to the office on the second floor? lol
Good news for me... well maybe for me but not for my checkbook... none of my pants fit yesterday again and I had to run and buy some. Size 6!! woot! Haven't wore this size since I was 20 after having my daughter.
Glad to hear your totals are looking Good! You are such inspiration to me!!! I have been going every 6 months but since our insurance changed in Jan. and my last results were good my PCP suggested I start going once a year.

Gina, glad to hear yours is on the upswing.
Good news...well, we saw dh's sleep doctor, he's doing so well on is current setting that they don't want to see him again for a year. Since we will keep some of our specialists here in town (Asheville isn't THAT far away), he stays on our list and we will try to make the appt to see all of them about the same day.
I wish he had been able to get rid of the cpap but given that his dad was rail thin and had apnea (undiagnosed cause he didn't believe in that), it's not surprising his surgery didn't help get him off it. It DID get his air pressure lowered dramatically tho.

That's good!
I'm excited to see my surgeon this Thursday. I'll likely be getting labs and following up on some symptoms of PN. My good news is two fold. One is that my "pins & needles" symptoms subsided after I carefully made sure I was taking my B12 daily. It turns out I had missed about 7 days of B12 since about December 10th. I did not realize it at all until I did a count of the new bottle and discovered that 7 were not taken. My problem is that I place all of my pills (but not B12) into a little dish that is left in a spot in the kitchen where I always see it. Those are taken routinely but the B12 had a history of changing color due to the absorption of moisture so I left them in the bottle in a drawer and that was my weak link. I was forgetting and then forgetting that I forgot! (I placed my order on Amazon for the little pills boxes for dispensing a week's worth). It does look like I have a history of the pins & needles from before surgery that was tolerable and thought to be something else. Anyway, I'll talk to the surgeon about it.
My second thing is I dropped another pound today so I'm slowing down too much. Still some losing going on :)
(Having worked for labs in the past, it is likely your blood was sent to multiple laboratories which means multiple numbers in the system. They should be able to get it together though.)
Yay Gina, I'm so happy for you. I have my first dexa next week... fingers crossed - or you can swing stuff for me!!
Good news? The snow wasn't so bad today - all the sidewalks and roads were pretty safe (I thought the slush was going to freeze and become ice).

My bones are not good IMO but my doctor doesn't mind because they are still in range. Bah.
My B12 is 1113 and I don't even supplement! Whee!!
Ferritin is going up.
Protein is still low.
