Not quite 3 weeks post op just checking in.
Well, I am taking 4 flintstone vitamins, 2400 calcium, nexium, probiotic, Dry vit. D 50,000, and a phenergan (for nausea twice a day)
I am drinking one roadside lemonade (mixed to 4 oz of water) 23g P
64 or more water a day
and I am eating 40 grams of protein a day. (crab legs, cheese, greek yogurt, wendys chili, chewing everything VERY VERY VERY well....
I started walking. Not up to a mile yet, but hopefully tomorrow.
I have lost 30 pounds.
Suggestions????? Am I doing things okay????
Went through a horrible regret stage. grief.... but that has lifted.

Any reason you are taking so much calcium? Most don't but a lot depends on your individual situation. Is something different about yours?
The same with Vitamin D. If you were low pre-op, a lot of peple take 50,000 every day for a month or so and then get retested but 50,000 a day is not a normal does for people with Vitamin D in a normal range.
Flinestones are probably fine for 3 weeks out when you may have issues with swallowing pills but once you can, you want something with more "stuff" in it. Flinestones are missing a few vital minerals.
40 g of protein is "okay" for 3 weeks out but you definitely want to work on upping it. Why not have two roadside lemonades a day? In the early days when you are healing and also eating a VLCD, you need as much protein as you can get! My program recommends 70-90 g a day to start and then adjusts from there. Some programs recommend 100 g for RnY or DS.

She's a DSr, that's what we take as minimums for calcium and D3. When we drop below those doses our labs suffer. What we're told to do is take 100,000IUs of dry D3 and retest in 3 months if our D was low pre-op. Some of us can maintain on 50,000IUs of dry D3 but not all.

You vitamins are ok for a few weeks but those Flintstones have got to go. lol Please check out Vitalady's plan when you're ready to handle it. 2400 of calcium citrate is perfect as is the 50,000IUs of dry D3. Make sure your calcium is calcium citrate. The protein is ok for a few weeks too. Increase as you can.
You're doing great anc congrats on your weight loss so far. : )

I will start on my petite multi vitamin today and forget the flintstones. I BOUGHT the whole vitalady plan. I have it all set in my 4 pill boxes ready to start. I am just not quite there. the few pills I am taking are gagging me. I am hoping that in another couple of weeks I'll do better.
I am only doing one roadside lemonade because it is an hour ordeal to get it down. I REALLY can't drink the protein right now.
THANKS ladies.....
Michelle
Take it slow and easy. No pressure. If chewables are working better for you right now, that's fine too. Also, you can dissolve your calcium in a little liquid and your capsule powder of D3 has no flavor --just mix it with a soup or pudding or whatever soft food you're having. You're doing just fine.

Yeah, what they said...and you are doing great with the loss. Sorry about losing your grandmother and best friend. I know you hurt from that.
