Any light weights revised from the Sleeve to Gastric Bypass?

But that would be true for RnY as well. (The medicine not staying in your system.)

The thing is, RnY and Sleeve have similar results in the long run. The calorie malaborption of RnY is only 20-30% and it wears off in time. So eventually you'd just have restriction, exactly like you have now. But you'd have malabsorption of vitamins, minerals and issues with medicines forever. It just doesn't seem like an improvement to me and it seems like you'd end up disappointed with the weight loss.

With the DS, they can customize how long your common channel is so that you have less malabsorption than a typical DS and that might help with the meds. Or maybe your surgeon will say you don't need that. It will depend on your individual situation.

For revisions to sleeves, the most common is to a DS because you are half way there and you can customize the common channel. Another thing you can do is to get resleeved. This works well if your original sleeve is too big or the wrong shape for maximum results. But sometimes scar tissue makes it not a viable option. There are a few people on the VSG board who had that, I think.

Technical you can put a band around a sleeve too but I don't actually know anyone who has done that so I don't know if it actually works. I bet it would help if the sleeve was too big. But I can't see it helping any other issue.

I know two people *****vised from sleeve to RnY. In one case their sleeve was ENORMOUS but the shape and scar tissue made resleeving not an option so they did RnY. In the other case, something went wrong with the sleeve and they needed to go from the high pressure system of a sleeve to the low pressure system of a RnY. But they were throwing up all their food and stuff. I mean their sleeve was literally killing them, if I read their posts right. So it wasn't to lose more weight but for quality of life.

Revisions are tricky because sometimes whatever was done to you will dictate your options. So I'd pick a surgeon with lots and lots of experience with revisions and see what they say. I don't think you can really go by what they say at the seminars because they are geared to virgin surgeries and the kinds of issues a revision would have aren't part of the equation in the material they are presenting.

I'm a sleeve to DS revision and I'm doing well.  It's been slow, but I'm doing OK nevertheless.  I needed the big guns as I'd already got one WLS failure under my belt and I didn't want to head for 2.

Congrats on your revision!  With the Sleeve did you have acid reflux?  Do have it now with the DS?

Best wishes and thanks for replying.

Never had reflux before or after. BTW don't beat yourself up re your sleeve. The main thing is you've not given up, so kudos for that.

Yes, I really do not want to give up.  I have been so frustrated with myself. I know I have to calm down and keep the past in the past. You are very nice.

Thanks for the encouragement and info.
