Good Morning. Cold turkey or...

slowly shift into a new habit.  You guys know me and my comfy rut regarding what I eat every day. I know, I'm really boring. So, how do you break habits, go cold turkey or slowly merge out of your rut looking both ways for oncoming traffic?

I am a cold turkey person.  Except for giving up caffiene which required weaning off due to the headache you get if you go cold turkey.  When I get back from a trip and have almost always gained a pound or two, I do a couple of days of no carb (which really isn't NO carb, just no fruit, bread, rice, potatoes, you get the pix) and am back down to normal again.  When I stopped smoking back in the 80s, I did it cold turkey.  Weaning give me too much leeway to cheat.

cold now but should warm up so I can drive this afternoon.  Meeting tonight when I should be at muscle pump.  Oh well.

I prefer the cold turkey method...not that either work well but it's easier mentally for me to just jump in BOTH feet.

Trying to warm me up...I am just plain cold this winter.

Cold Turkey for me as well...that's how I quit smoking....just stopped....24 years ago...

I too think it helps to jump in with both feet...

I read an article that said people who maintain their weight eat pretty much the same thing every day.

When I decided I was eating too many carbs per day, I cut it by 20 per day until I got to where I wanted to be.  Couldn't go cold turkey there.  When I gave up popcorn;however, I cleaned out the pantry and took it to work and did that cold turkey.  Depends on how hard of a change it is to make.

When I got hooked on Cheezits I had to quit cold turkey.  That's probably been a year ago (who knows...time goes fast) and the last few weeks the girls have been bringing them into work. I know I can't even have even 1 or I will be back to having them every day.

Gina...I don't think your menus are boring?  I think eating the same things or similar has made you successful and because of your example I feel I'm successful too.......

Hello Gina... I think I am comfortable in in routine and I need to get outside the box sometimes and try something new...I like to stay with what works for me!  When I need to break a habit I need to go cold turkey!!  Slowly adjusting into a new habit just doesnt work for me...Thanks for posting this today. At present Im going cold turkey and  head to head with carb monster!!  I know I can do this!!!

Both. Depends on what it is.

LIke for drinking enough fluid, I definitely do that by going slowly. Maybe adding 8 or 10 oz a day at first, do that for a while, then add some more.

But for not eating something bad for me, that I'd probably do cold turkey, just stop buying it.
