I just found out my surgeon does ds surgery!!! That is originally the surgery I wanted!!! I'm getting vsg. I am still doing that but its really nice to know that if I decide later that i want revision to ds I'm half way there and dont have to drive 6 hrs away. I have a question. How many vitamins after surgery do you take, and how does it affect psych meds? I'm just asking cuz this is the surgery I originally wanted.

I take about 30-40 vites a day (I don't sit down and count them).  I have a 75cm common channel so I'm probably malabsorbing more than other people with longer common channels.  As a 2 stepper that's the length my surgeon does.  If you went for a one step DS you could probably have a longer CC and still lose well, as 2 steppers tend be slower losers.

I'd seriously consider one step if it's an option as you're likely to be more successful and why put yourself through 2 surgeries.

I can't advise re your meds.  If you don't have luck here, you may want to post that as a separate thread on the DS forum.

BTW I don't see your surgeon on DSfacts, so you may want to post to find out more about him if you're seriously looking at the DS.  I had a good recovery, but I have to credit that to my surgeon as he only does 2 step DSs and is very experienced in this (OK and God too as even the best surgeons don't have 100% perfect records).

Mine isn't on DSFacts either...but I am one of the reasons keeping him off. He's an awesome surgeon but his MLM (Multi Level Marketing) vitamins are just beyond the scope of good taste for other vets.

That's why I didn't poo poo him out of hand - merely advised caution.  Kirmy's surgeon, Mr Ameet G Patel isn't on there either but she does love him.  He does my follow up and I think he's great too (you just can't get the DS as a lightweight in the UK, hence him not being my surgeon).

If you want a DS it is important to find a surgeon who is very experienced and skilled with it.  Believe me, it makes a huge difference.  Find out how many he has done and how his patients are doing.  It is worth the money and travel to have a great surgeon.  The DS isn't a surgery that should be done by a good enough surgeon.  It's best results are from a great surgeon.
