Just for Fun Fridays
Blooming - something that is killing my allergies!! Not sure what it is, this has been one of the worst years. There are some flowers in the flower bed, but I honestly don't know what they are called - not much of a yard person - they are pretty though.
Pre-Op - Study Study Study all the types of surgery and be sure to pick the best one for you and your lifestyle. Make sure you can commit to what you need to do the rest of your life. Try to start some type of exercise program even it if is just walking a little bit ever day.
Post-Op - Don't test the waters. Use your honeymoon period to the best advantage you can. Go as low as you can go. Make changes in your lifestyle that you can maintain when you get to maintenance. Develop good habits. Journal your food, weigh and measure it, even if you don't do this everyday try to do it at least once a week to make sure you aren't getting more than you think you are. Stay connected to a support group. You will need this the further out you get.
Lots of great advice so far.
Linda
My DH is allergic to peonies and I just love them. Oh well. None around here.
Starting to exercise is great advice. I was doing Curves for years before and I do think it helped.

I have a hydrangia blooming. Big blue bonnets on it. The weeds are in bloom...
Pre-Op: do your research. Pick the surgery that is best suited to how you eat and the life you currently live.
Post-Op: don't freak out when you stall. Track your progress and log your food. Later, when the stalls don't break, you have an idea of what to try to start losing weight again.
I love hydrangia. I have one white one that is getting taken over by other stuff but I don't think I can move it.
Tracking is so important. It helped me to know that no matter what the scale said, I knew I was doing what I needed to be doing.

1. Day lilies are getting ready to pop. They are all around my yard.
2. Start working on your vitamins and protein pre-op--don't wait.
3. Keep going to get your labs done every single year--EVERY YEAR--and take your vitamins.

My favorite part of summer is the flowers...have zinnia seeds growing and morning glories. Sunflower seeds didnt grow again this year! :( Have about 10 hanging baskets of varying flowers and little buckets of petunias and zinnias on my fence. Just planted a hydrangea and he is doing well. Planted a bunch of inpatiens last night in my strawberry pot. Flowers make me happy!
Pre-op: Read and research as much as you can. Start exercising if you can
Post-op. Stay protein focused and find a protein you like. Stay low carb if you can and don't test the waters.....stay focused. Reach out for support.
p.s. raining here cats and dogs!

My lilacs just finished. Cornflowers are blooming
preop Start exercising, even a little. Try to start giving up sweets and bad carbs. Research about the immediate post op period, so you will be prepared. Try to get some counseling about your relationship with food
postop Record every bite that goes into your mouth and plan on doing it forever. Find support, either in person or on line. Keep all your followup appointments forever.I know several people who never followed up with their surgeons postop and guess what? They gained their weight back. Exercise, exercise, exercise
