I am not at goal yet but I had the DS and started out at 231 & my goal is to get to 130 as well.  I am just over 7 months out and have lost 75 lbs so far!  The results are fantastic & I am very pleased with my results!  My weight loss has slowed a bit, but I knew from reading ALOT of back posts that this was pretty typical at around 6 months or so.  I normally only get to post on the weekdays....I too have little ones 2 & 4, but I wanted to respond to you since we have similarities.  My surgery was flawless & I had no complications.  The only thing I did was to make sure I had someone help me for the first month or so when I was alone with the kids so I did not pick them up...too heavy & you could develop a hernia.  My labs are pretty clean & follow Vitalady's DS plan.  Just trying to bring my Vit K down now.   I do take a lot of vitamins....about 30 a day.  I try to eat like a 'real' DSer....which is high in fat & protein & lower in carbs....I watch my simple carbs a lot more closely than the complex carbs since we absorb 100% of sugars but only 60% of complex carbs.  I post on the DS forum 'Bites & Vites' Monday thru Friday...so you can see what I eat.  Also, I am 5'3" and my common channel is 150cm.  You want to make sure you discuss your common channel length with your surgeon & get an agreement before your surgery.  My surgeon is not a vetted surgeon, although he was proctored & is good friends with Dr Roslin...who is vetted.  So my surgeon followed Dr Roslin's 'philosophy' of a longer common channel...especially for lightweights to make sure you do not lose too much & absorb vitamins (and calories) better.  You can PM me if you want any other info.  Good luck....it's a great ride!

I'm also a lightweight looking into the DS. I was just curious as to the 30 vitamins per day. I've been reading that there are lots to take but didn't realize up to 30. I've browsed through Vitalady site but haven't had a chance to go through it thoroughly. What are you taking, if you don't mind me asking (with two little ones your free time is almost non existent, so just if you have a minute!
Thanks!

Look I really need some advice here. I'm 45 and about 2 years ago my BMI went between 29 to 32. I also was diagnosed with stage 1 liver disease ( also known as fatty liver disease which is usually caused by drinking which is ironic being that I don't) thanks to my ex who does he spoke up for me to the doctor's on my behalf and finally made them understand that I often the DD but not the drinker! ) (sorry I diversed) . All my weight is in my abdomen and since being diagnosed I have now proceeded to stage 2 , high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and the beginning of heart disease. According to both of my specialists (liver and cardiac) all this could be reversed if I could lose the abdominal fat. Unfortunately I have dieted (with weight loss noted in my face, legs, and arms! Which aren't big to begin with! ) and yes I have and do exercise. Unfortunately here lately I have begun to be extremely tired all the time now. Anyways I'm laying all this out there because it appears that if I could get rid of the abdominal weight that is applying pressure on my organs I could get better but I don't seem to qualify for gastric bypass. So could anyone tell me what to do. I don't want the dang surgery for looks but for a freaking better life. I would like to see my girls grow up and see what kind of women they become and heck maybe even hold my grandchildren. But. With how quickly my liver disease is progressing I probably won't. (There are only 3 stages of my disease and I am at #2 when you hit 3 it's liver transplant or death.) Is there any one out there with some advice.

My advice is to self-pay for surgery. Because, as screwed up as it is, no insurance in the US will pay for it unless you gain 5 pounds. Which will TOTALLY screw up your liver.

hi There, I am 3 years with DS and feel and look great. I was at 285 when I started and took about six months as I remember to lose 100 ... I have been as low as 175 and looked too gaunt but I maintain at 185-190 eat most of anything I want in small amounts ...I take 2x recommended vitamin multi ...D3 and calcium.... My labs have been great but I know not every DSer reacts the same. My doctor is Anthone and he is one of the best.
