It's a week plus two days since surgery. Off all diabetes meds but my blood pressure seems to be higher than normal. Maybe because of the pain. I can only take Tylenol (store brand) liquid as the opiate narcotic gave me hives and welts all over. My next doc visit is Tuesday. Still on full liquids. No appetite at all. On injectable blood thinner. Friend took me to grocery store. I used the motorized cart to shop. Not so much energy to walk great distances. I lost weight! I still feel bloated. I can't sleep at all on my left side. Happy New Year everyone!

It's a little early to send wishes for a Happy New Year, but I'm on the computer now.
I have to admit I did not do well during the Christmas season as far as food. I ate way too many treats. My scale was showing numbers I hadn't seen in years. Today the numbers are looking better and I'm ready to buckle down and take better care of myself.
A few months ago I met with the dietician at my surgeon's office and she is really great. She has not had WLS but has lost 40 lbs. and maintained the loss. Her speciality is WLS. She has some great recipes and advice on her website: www:foodcoach.me.
I shopped today for ingredients to make food for me that are healthy and tasty. I need to take better of myself.
Hope all of you a wonderful New Year!

I had VSG as well - My calories didn't hit 800 until about 5-6 months in. In the first few months I was lucky I hit 600. The surgeons office said I should eat more calories, but i couldn't. I hit goal in about 7 months and am very health now.
I only weighed once a week during the weight loss period to avoid being disappointed - I now weigh daily in maintenance.

Hi Roz! I know I'm a day late...
My mom now lives with me and we eat VERY different... so I've been eating more carbs than I used to and I can tell. She also is a pretty picky eater.. ugh... Also she got all kinds of Christmas cookies... I'm not a big sweet eater but do love the no-bakes and ate them all :( not at 1 time, but over about 10 days...
B - coffee
L - chicken noodle soup (just a little)
D - chili

Regardless of the type of surgery you had, it is normal to level off on losing weight at about the 3 week period - so don't feel you aren't losing or you are failing. It's just your body catching up with what's going on.
Be sure you take measurements - as it will save your sanity when the scale isn't moving. I took mine monthly so I could see the progress.
I agree with Roz - I probably only got about 4-500 calories a day but my Dr didn't give me a specific calorie goal - just protein first, then complex carbs (veggies).
Sounds like you're doing great - congratulations!

Yes, I was told around 800 cals a day. Most days I'm better with about 5-600 though. Thanks for your input and good luck!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!! How did you do?

I had the RNY so I don't know how that compares to your VSG but but it sounds like you are doing really greatl.
Did your nutritionist tell you to get 800 calories in every day? I averaged around 400 at the beginning and never seen 800 until I was about 5 months out. Raised it to 1000 with protein drinks at 8 months out.

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.
Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.
I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!! It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them! LW's!!!
Afternoon LW's!!!! I was "bad" today. Popcorn drizzled in Chocolate....!!!
