Lost the other greatest man in my life, my knight in shinning armor, my dad, to his second heart attack in July 1995.
I lost my mother to high blood pressure, diabetes, two heart attacks, kidney failure, etc., on October 2005. I talked to her every day of my life. Miss her too, more than words can express.
One month later, November 2005, I lost my cousin, 47 to diabetes infection. I E-mailed him almost everyday. Miss him too. He was my "laugh a day".
My oldest brother, over weight, has insulin type II diabetes, has had two heart attacks, a metal mitral valve and two bypass surgeries, his heart can only pump at 35%.
My youngest brother has had a heart attack and is over weight.
I am the baby and only girl. I AM NOT SPOILED!!!! Lol. much!
For the last year and a half I have really been looking into the different kinds of surgery that eliminates diabetes and weight. My daughter has been begging me to get the surgery done and after researching everything I could read, I am ready to do it, well, if I can get the right one.
I have been on the diabetic Metforman pills for 13 years. I am destroying my throat, so, it is just a matter of time before I can no longer take the Metforman. Then my diabetes will be totally out of control and I will be on insulin. I figure if I don't do something positive about my weight, type II diabetes (on pills), Mitral valve heart condition, GERDS, etc. I will be with my Lord sooner than planned.
I seen my PCP on March 29, 2006 and asked for the WLS. He has been seeing me for the last 11 years for a doctor supervised diet with Phentermine diet pills. I have lost 80 pounds to date.
I know I will pass all the stuff needed to do any surgery. My PCP tried to get me to do WLS years ago. I was afraid. I had a C section and a hematoma, 8 pints of blood and 8 days in the hospital, when I had my daughter. I guess I was gone and they brought me back. Sorry, no "bright light stories". *Lol*.
I will concentrate on stabilizing my sugar and think more on the best way to proceed. Thanks, ... Deb.

Well, Kaiser's online site has been messing up and I haven't heard from my PCP about my diabetic meds. My blood sugar count has been in the low 200s and I went back to my old meds. Nothing is working. I think the stress of trying to figure out the best thing to do about the WLS is keeping my sugar high. Thanks to all the replies on the boards. The people here are great .... Deb.

I finally got my blood sugar under control! That was a major hurdle in it's self. And I'm not good at field and track. HA, I crack myself up! My husband says I'm just cracked! But, he laughs at my dumb jokes anyway.*Lol*. Got'a love him. *smooch*.
Who would have thought that Calcium , Mag & Zinc pills would have an affect on diabetic meds!!! I stopped taking them and doubled my old diabetic pills and my count went down to normal. Learn something new every day. I just wish I didn't have to be kicked in the head to learn it!!! *Lol*.
I have gotten some really good advice on the OH site and other places. Thank you to all that have been there for me. I feel like I'm not alone going through this. I have the support of my family but, you are treating me like I am a part of your family. It really feels good! Thank you...Deb.

A lot of great help from the members here. I have been asking questions and reading a lot. My husband thinks aliens have abducted me and cloned this person to take my place. *Lol.* ( I'm in the back room with my computer.) I told him if that were true to have them take a few pounds off me!!!! OH BOY!!! Wouldn't that be COOL!!! Here little aliens...come on... do your thing ...atta boy.... AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! ( I would like to take this time to state that I have no ill will and do not mean to offend any one who has seen any aliens, been abducted and / or other wise is or may become an alien.) I better go before I get myself in trouble .... Feeling better, can you tell?... Deb.
