Good quality bras are expensive, and if you're rapidly losing weight, you may not want to invest in bras that you may only be able to wear a few months. One option is to intentionally buy a bra that's a little too tight around the chest, and use a bra

I was rather lucky in that my favourite pairs of slacks before surgery were stretchy and a bit snug. That meant that I was able to wear them for a long time as I lost weight; they no longer needed to stretch, but they didn't become too baggy. To me, cl

Given my recent thread about slow weight loss, I was very glad to see the scale this morning: 90.6 kg (199 lbs).

This time last year, after walking up a single flight of stairs at work, I would pretend to be interested in the notices on the bul

Before surgery I often used protein powder in low-calories "smoothies". But after surgery, I found I really disliked the taste of every one I tried. At my dietician's suggestion, I tried using only half the normal amount, which made the taste more pala

How long did your "honeymoon period" of easy weight loss last? Unfortunately, I think mine ended just 5 months post-surgery. In the past six weeks, I've only lost 2kg (4.4 lbs).

For those who are curious, here are my average da

I'm five months out, and I still have trouble with some food textures.

  • vegetables - I can easily digest them in soups (because they end up very soft). I can eat a small amount of normally cooked veggies, but they feel "pointy" in my stom

Last week I reached 99kg (220 lbs). Not quite one-derland, but it was a psychological victory for me.

This thread has two purposes: 1) I'd like to know who the vegans are on this board, and 2) I'd like to know what are your favourite sources of protein?

Mine main sources of protein are:

  • smoked tofu (easy and fill

Personally, I think the swear word filter on this forum causes far more problems than it cures. This isn't the type of forum where people post rude words just for fun. I don't think I've seen a single post on this forum where someone intentionally trie

Right after surgery, I was able to drink water at a fairly normal rate. I kept an eye on my hydration at first, but when I got to the point where I was easily drinking as much as I did before surgery, I stopped tracking it as carefully.

I'm now

I'm looking for an Android app that will make a sound every, say, 15 minutes, to remind me to drink fluids. I don't want to have to turn the alarm off; I just want it to play a sound and then shut off until it's time to sound again. Does anyone have a

At ten weeks post-op, I find I can eat almost any texture food except dry. I've figured out the sensation that tells me when I'm full. I'm able to avoid stomach trouble for the most part, but every once in a while I'll eat something that doesn't agree

Ever since surgery, I have been unable to taste chocolate. All I get is a vague "earthy" sweet flavour. A nice flavour, but nothing to write home about. Have others experienced this? Does the taste come back? I'd be very happy if the taste never comes

I'm two months post-op, and I feel I should start exercising now. I been sedentary for years, but what's worse is that I have been feeling very tired lately. That's not surprising considering I'm consuming only 600 to 800 calories, but it does make sta

There are a lot of YouTube videos where people talk about thing they wish they had known before having VSG, and those things are usually unwanted. For example, that you gain weight temporarily from all the IV fluids, that drinking water can hurt, etc.

Today I removed my final pain patch. An hour or so later, I was in pain! I hadn't felt any pain since day 1 post-op; had the pain patches been protecting me from this much pain the whole time?

I wasn't expecting this to happen, and certainly not so soon, but 4 days post-op I realised that almost all of the excess fat in my face is gone. Every time I look in the mirror I'm pleasantly surprised to see a face that looks at least 15 years younge

Here's an account of my VSG surgery, which took place on Monday, 11 June at 2 p.m. Ireland has a national health plan similar to that in the U.K., but I went private to avoid a 3 year waiting list for wls. My VSG was paid for by my private insurance (w
