My story begins a few years back... I have always been on the heavier side, but my freshman year in college my weight started to soar and from that point has only taken a turn for the worse. At the age of 21 I had multiple health issues and was severly depressed. I had been researching the Lap Band system and thought that was the right decision for me, to tell you the truth i was freaked out and scared of the Bypass!!! I had the Lap Band surgery on May 9 2007. I was so happy I felt on top of the world.. I lost a whopping total of 21 lbs in one year and 3 months.. I have had many complications with my band including band slipage, hydial hernias, and aspiration just to name a few... Needless to say I have been very frustrated and overall disappointed in my band. I am planning my revision to the Gastric Bypass on 06-17-08.. I am very excited to be working with Dr. Barker, I feel as though I am in very capable hands and will let you guys know how its going!!!!
