Eliptical exercise

Feb 10, 2011

Hi all, HELP!
I am looking to buy an eliptical machine but there is so much out there and big price range I am lost.
Have you purchased one, what did you buy, what did you think the most important feature is? How happy were you with the results of using the machine? I have been told it is easy on the knee's and gives a whole body work out as oposed to walking.
The prices are from $200-$1500+. Don't have much to spend, so really want to get the most for my money.

New Goal met

Feb 07, 2011

I really thought today would never come. I have now officially lost 100lbs.! I can't believe it.
Getting very close to my goal, Dr said I am already successful and don't get caught up with numbers. Which I haven't, I think if I lost 14 more pounds which would put me into a 14 comfortably I would be totally happy......

Gall Bladder

Feb 05, 2011

Hi haven't been around in a while. Just got home after 9 days in hospital after a gall bladder attack. They didn't identify it until the 4th day, so was too late to do surgery right away. Dr says after that window it get to high risk. So had to stay for 2 different antibiotics by IV, now home with another 10 days orally. Surgery will take place sometime in 6 weeks. Knew it could happen! Just sorry it did.

I am having such a hard time getting some new photo's online. Don't know why I'm no longer able to bring it down to 100x100 pixels. And wonder how some of you are able to put the photo's in with your post?
Can anyone tell me what program they use to do this. Can't remember how I did last time. Using picaso now and to get it even close to the peramiters it cutsw out half my face.

WOW moments!

Nov 10, 2010

Hey everyone it has been a long while since I've been on. Hope you are all doing well. Have had a number of WOW moments in the last month. Sat in an airplane without extension. Was able to leave the arm down! The hotel had bathrobes, I was about to call to ask for a larger one, my husband said, 'what are you doing that for, you don't need it, so tried it on and had extra room! Went to store and saw a bathing suit I liked it was a reg 14, I'm thinking I'll never fit into this, tried it on and bought it, my hubby loved it and I wore it the whole time we were there (marco island, florida).

Finally found out why I was vomiting so much. Had a endoscopy on Tues. Dr wanted to check esophogus since the  myotomy was done 6 months ago. When I got there I had to put on a hospital gown, so I did and it wrapped around me well. I asked the nurse if it was a larger than normal size she said, 'no'. I got so excited I jumped up in the bed and yelled out WOW! I thought she was going to pee her pants laughing so hard, then she said good for you! Anyway, the myotomy opened the esophogus permenantly, which is causing me to swallow more air than normal. The vomiting is caused by GURD (reflux) due to the open esophogus, the air makes me want to burp, the open area causes anything in pouch to back up with the burp. The area is raw, and he had to take two biopsies. Also said I have a small ball of stuff stuck inbetween two of the originao stitches. Waiting for test results in two weeks and will know what to do then.

I am vomiting often, help

Sep 30, 2010

 Hi everyone,

I am a little over 5 months out, and have lost 59 pounds. Am doing well with one exception. After drinking 'anything' non caffine, no gas and no sugar. I feel that awful pain in my chest and know there is gas. But as the gas begins coming up it is accompanied with vomit.  Am sipping fluids and chewing slowly, no sugar in any food and had a BPD which is the least likely surgery for dumping.  Then I feel fine. No sweats, or any other symptoms, other than the pain where the pouch is. I drink crystal light most of the time, but put double water to try not to consume to much sugar substitute. I did have a heller myotomy for on the esophogus due to a muscle disorder.

Has anyone experienced this?

NG Tube

Aug 18, 2010

The other day I read a post from someone who was in ER and even in spite of telling the staff that she could not have an NG (tube into the stomach) placed without special precautions.  The tube was placed.  She did not suffer from this procedure, but could have had major problems.

As a courtesy to her and as a reminder for all of us.  I copied her plea to everyone.

"My surgeon said NO ONE who have ever had any WLS should have a blind NG tube placed in them without being under a XRay machine or a Flora scope.    Maybe this could spare someone else all the stress that it caused me and maybe even their life."

Share with others that we need to have special precautions because of the procedure we have had done on our stomachs.  Thanks for your time.  Getting off my soap box now.  Hugs
