Feeling better about surgery date now

Jan 21, 2010

Well, feeling better about my surgery date. After tossing and turning all last night, I called and asked the surgeons office to move it back a week to Feb 25.  That way I should be covered as far as being on disability and not going to NY for the work meeting!  Consequently, feeling really good about everything now and very excited to get going!  Tried an Unjury chocolate shake with milk this morning to check out the taste and was suprised at how good it was- kept me full up until lunch - awesome!
Had better communication with the surgeons office today too which makes me feel relieved as well.

Scheduled my surgery yesterday

Jan 20, 2010

Scheduled my surgery yesterday for Feb 18, 2010.  Now I am a nervous wreck...feel like the communication with my surgeons office is a bit lacking. I have concerns about a work trip in March and cant seem to get an answer on how long I will be off for disability....When I met with Dr Pham he told me at least 4 weeks as I am a sales rep and am driving and traveling all day (and carry a 25 plus pound bag all day....) But yesterday on the phone I expressed my concern about this work trip (4 days in NYC- wont be able to select my own meals or have anything with me....!) she said I will be back to work in 2 weeks at most!  Ugh- so confused.  And when I called the insurance company to find out my responsibilty on payment for the surgery they said it is outpatient surgery and only $1700....can that be right for lap RNY?

Approved for surgery yesterday.

Jan 16, 2010

I am on the path to my new life.  I was just approved for RNY yesterday & am waiting for my surgeons office to schedule (looks like March per the letter I just got from them).  I am excited and yet I am scared!  I just want my life back.  I have struggled with my weight my entire life.  12 years ago I lost 85 lbs and looked and felt great.  Within 9 months of losing all that weight, I gained 50 lbs in one month and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Hypothyroid. Since then I have gained 135 lbs and feel horrible about myself.  I cant exercise much due to lower back pain (from all the weight...viscous cycle).  I love to be outdoors and do things with my husband and son & can't participate half the time because of my back pain.  This year on vacation at Disney World I couldn't ride a new virtual reality ride as I was too fat to close the top portion properly.....that was the last straw.
Yesterday when the insurance company called me to say I was approved it was like I was given a gift to get my life back!  I have given up doing so many things because of my weight and/or back pain from the weight.  I just cant wait to get my surgery scheduled now and be on my way.
