Back to the Salt Mines

Aug 24, 2007

Well, I have started back to work/school and it has been crazy busy. It was so hard for me to get back into the swing of work again and I would come home and crash. But its good to be back and I am getting so many compliments about my weight loss and how good I look and that I am half the women I was. One women told me that I was so beautiful. Hmmm, I thought about that one. I am still the same women just thinner and my husband said, I should have told her I have always been beautiful. It takes me back a little with all compliments because I feel the same. The only thing that I really notice is the new clothes that I am wearing and I feel good.
One thing I have noticed too is my feet and legs don't hurt anymore and my stamina is really good. I continue however to have back pains somedays worse than others but all in all this has been such a positive change for me. I would do this surgery again and I want everybody to know about what this surgery can do for them because it has changed my life and I have not even lost all the weight I need to yet.

3 Months Post Op

Jul 29, 2007

I saw Dr. Duperier for my 3 month post op of my Lap RNY check up and he said I am doing good. I've lost 46 lbs. He said that he suspects that I will loose a total of 90 lbs at my 6 month check up. Several of my problems have been resolved like I don't have to take high blood pressure medications anymore. The only thing that is still a problem for me is my lower back pain and that has not resolved yet. Dr. D. said that with me loosing 46 lbs and my back is not better then my Back Pain may not go away. I am still holding out for hope on that. Because I am still considered Obese per my BMI.

Changing Sizes

Jul 17, 2007

Well, something funny happened to me the other day. I took my granddaughter to Penneys to shop and found some capri pants on sale (I didn't try them on) and thought well I will go a head and buy a pair of size 16 (I was a 22) and I will get into them maybe in a couple of weeks or so. I got home and just hung them up. The next day I thought well I am going to try these pants on just to see how much further I need to go. Wow, I fit right into them. I was really shocked and happly surprised. I have not bought any clothes since my surgery except one blouse and have been just wearing my old clothes. My girlfriend told me my clothes were hanging on me and my daughter had told me I needed to get some new bra's to help the girls stay up better.
Well, I guess I will be buying a few more clothes soon since I need to get ready for work which is at a school district and I start back August 14th... but I will try to wait till right before.

I'm Under

Jul 01, 2007

Well, I finally met one of my goals and that was to get under the 200 lb mark.
I am now 199 officially: YEAH!    Wow! I am so happy about this. I am feeling good except for my lower back pain that I had before my weight loss surgery and I am hoping that the more weight I loose that will go away as well. I have not bought any new clothes yet. I did go thru my closet and got rid of all the clothes I can no longer wear. I had a few smaller clothes that I can now get in to.

210

May 29, 2007

I have lost 30 lbs since my surgery and everyone tells me that they can tell that I am loosing weight. It's very exciting. I still have to be careful what I eat and make sure I don't eat too much. I have had some dumping episodes and it feels terrible. Certainly makes me think before I put anything in my mouth, makes me think about eating slowly, makes me think about not to eat too much. It's exciting about being on the losing bench. I just finished with work/school and have the summer off so my goal is to go to the gym at least 5 times a week.
Going to the Yucatan with my family and I am a little nervous how I will do while there. But Can't wait!

Post Op Info

May 06, 2007

I went to San Antonio and saw Dr. D. for my 3 week post op appt. I had lost 20 lbs which he said was right where he wanted me. He asked me if I was having any problems. I told him that it was getting harder for me to drink water. I have always been a water drinker. He said I might be getting a little ulcer, so I have to take my Nexium for another month. It's been tough though and I thought after wards WHAT HAVE I DONE. But with losing 20 lbs already made me very happy. I feel very weak a lot of the time. But Dr. D. assured me that was normal. I did start back to work which wore me out. I don't have any restrictions now and will try to excercise more.

Tomorrow

Apr 08, 2007

I leave tomorrow for San Antonio to get ready for my Lap RNY and my para esphogeal hernia repair. I have an appt. with the dietician and the the excercise physiologists on Monday, then Tuesday I have my pre-op labs and then see Dr. D that afternoon and then Wednesday morning I will have surgery if all goes well.
I have spoke to some of my family about having this done. One of my sister in laws said, "How can I talk you out of this"! and then she begins to tell me third hand of complications someone told her that someone else had. I know they are concerned for me and I understand that but I don't like telling anybody about me having this surgery because they get this kind of shock look on their face. Then they start to tell me stuff like yes I heard about this women that had "dumping" and she had this diarrhea for a year. After going to the seminar, talking to my doctors and patient advocate and reading as much as I could get my hands on, I soon realized how uneducated some people are on WLS. This forum/blog has been wonderful for me and I know it will be a help for furture WLS patients.
Wish me luck!
                                Good Luck!

It's Getting Closer

Mar 30, 2007

Well, eleven more days till THE DAY!  The day of my Lap RNY.
I have been worried because I have had a bad cough for two weeks now and my PCP gave me antibiotics and I finished those a week ago and it doesn't seem my cough is much better. My chest X-Ray was normal so I suspect that I am having a little allergy induced Asthma so the PCP gave me an Alburterol inhaler to use. My big fear is when I go for my Pre Op Labs and appt. with Dr. D.  he will tell me I can't have the surgery. EEEKKK!  Horror.
I am trying to get as much info as I can so I can be a little prepared. I will get my husband to take some pictures of me before I go into surgery and post on here for all to see.
