big tricycle

Mar 22, 2009

We have a new friend who decided go sell his big tricycle, so, I bought it.  I can ride a bicycle, so I though these wheels would be easier--wrong.  If you are not riding on a flat surface, the tricycle seems to have a mind of it's own, which can be very scary.  Today is the third day to ride it, and I think I can now control it better.
Tomorrow I go back to school, we have had spring break, and I have an appointment with a surgeon to discuss a colonoscopy (?).  Back to the grind of getting tests appointments.

Temple of God

Mar 19, 2009

I was just answering a message which helped me know my feelings about WLS.  Another person I am writing.  had said this is a "last chance" action..  I have to get to my feeling of the real reason to have the surgery. If I am a Christian, why can't I have the discipline to lose weight and get myself in better shape with prayer?  Or is this the answer to my prayers.  With so many benefits from this surgery,  is this  the answer to my prayer?

2 down

Mar 19, 2009

The last two nights I have been in a sleep study.  My back hurts, probably from being in an unfamiliar bed.  The young man in charge was very good, but young.  I got over it-him putting belts on me and those little electrodes and wires going everywhere. Funny thing, I did dream last night, wires were chasing me, everything was black and these bright wires were behind me trying to catch me-I'm not kidding, I really did dream that. I was out by 6 a.m.
8:30 this morning I had an imagining of my gallbladder, pretty simple.  Of course I am anxious to find out the results of these assessments.
Monday I have an appointment with a surgeon who will do a colonosocopy at a later date.
Two weeks from Monday I will have about 3 more tests.
The weather is beautiful here in S. Tx. about 75 degrees, the Mountain Laurels are blooming purple, and have such a nice fragrance.  A number of people are on the golf course (our back yard).

We are on spring break, back to school next Monday;

San Antonio

Mar 17, 2009

HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY - Sealed with a pinch, you don't have green on do you.

Today I had an appointment with my WL surgeon, Dr. Dana Reiss, in San Antonio.  I left home about 7:15, with hubby's GPS.  All went well until I got to S.A.  We had to "recalculate" a few times, but I made it, a little late, 10:10.  The doctor went over the information which had been taken last week.  My blood pressure was high (traffic, I think)  she decided I needed to have cardiac clearance and my thyroid checked.  What other test can she prescribe?  I know it is for my benefit.
I have to leave tonight at 7 p.m. to get to the sleep study in Uvalde, about 40 miles away.  Then leave the sleep study by 6 a.m., Wed. I have a gallbladder imagining at 8:30 a.m. in Uvalde.  There is a Wal Mart, I can shop.  I'm pretty sure I will have to go back Wed. night again for further testing.

Whirlwind

Mar 16, 2009

Today I went to the Dr. to have a UTI (Urinary Track Infection) checked on.  She told me to start taking cranberry pills, so I will, along with the all the other vitamins I take.
I also have appointments for just about all the other tests I need to have.  This week is going to be busy.  Tomorrow night I have a sleep study, then if they find I do have sleep apnea, I have to spend another night in the lab.
Tomorrow I go see my WLS Dr.  My appointment is at 10:00.  It will take me at least 2 hours to get  to San Antonio, then the traffic.  I am going to try going by myself.  I will have a navagating system to help me.

Time to start

Mar 07, 2009

I am learning so much with this web site.  It is too interesting, and I have been checking it out toooo much.
I live in S. Texas close to the Mexican border, and we have not had rain since I moved here in Aug. 08.
Today I went to the yearly celebration, Ft. Clark Days.  This is a historical community focusing on the time the Fort was an active Army Post.  Some people were dressed in period costumes, there were tours of the Ft., craft shows, camel rides, all kinds of eating booths, and more.  We went in a golf cart and enjoyed the entertainment.

A week ago, I went to San Antonio for my first visit with Dr. Reiss and her staff for the beginning tests.  My appointment was at 7:30, and I got there at 8:30! I don't know if the staff was aware of my tardiness, no one said anything.  We had to drive about 3 hours to get to S.A., the traffic was very bad and finding the building and office was a challenge.  When I finally got checked in, I went through a series of test; nutrition, psycho., small physical.  I did not get to talk to the Dr. because they were behind.  I was asked to come back, my appointment is in about in 10 days.  The Dr. did come and apologize  about needing to reschedule.
Now I have to have a mammogram, colon---, gallbladder imagining, sleep study , pap smear and maybe something else, I don't remember. Hopefully I can get these done week after next during spring break, and I think I can have them all in Uvalde, just 40 mi. from my home.

Feb 22, 2009

This is a big site, lots to read about and so inspiring to people like me whose life long desire has been to be a "normal" size.  I look at small sizes and wonder how people fit in them.  This site has motivated me to have a better life style.  I absolutely love reading about others' weight loss journeys.
I am waiting for husband to call me to go golf--never have before.
