"Dr. Pupkova is absolutely wonderful. VERY caring and above-all cautious. rnrnPrior to surgery she was very clear in explaining everything including options and complications -- in real-world terms, without undue alarm and also without downplaying the seriousness of the procedure. rnrnDuring my surgery, she found lesions that prevented her from completing the procedure. Instead of continuing into an area that she was not comfortable with, she performed a partial RNY (gave me the stomach pouch without the rerouting of the intestine), did a VERY thorough exploratory of the abdomen, and closed. When I woke up, she very clearly explained what she had found, what my next steps are, and what my future options for completing the surgery are. She then gave me the same explanation the next day (when i was more alert) and even drew me pictures.
