I was born in England in 1959 into a depressed, poor common working family.  All my family members either worked in the coal pits, or in the cotton weaving sheds of the industrial North-West of England.  My mother broke away from that and worked three jobs just to get out of that rathole, and things began to change by 1969.  It was then I realized that I was the pudgy kid in class.

When I came to America in 1981, I had been working as a car mechanic which allowed me a lot of movement on the job, so weight apparently was not an issue.  Once in the US, manual labor turned to intellectual labor with two BS Engineering degrees and 10 years later found me in the pudgy section again.  Since then, my weight has continued to increase yearly, although I ate the same things, I guess the metabolism was just not up to the job.

I am a mechanical engineer by trade and am a senoir partner in a worldwide engineering company.  I travel all over the world to solve mechanical problems in power plants.  Traveling and diets dont mix either, and again, the weight keeps coming.

In 2009, I realized enough was enough and decided to take control of this problem before it killed me.....
