Ok I'm schedule for Surgery July 11th at 12:00 they changed it. I have pre op on June 30th were I will have labs and pre op teaching and talk to the OR Nurse. Then I have my Physical with my PCP July 6th for a EKG and Chest X-ray. It is getting really close. I'm a little scared and nervous but I believe that God will watch over me. I told the rest of my family this weekend and they didn't get mad. They are worried but are ok with it. They know I'm doing this for my health. I'll update after my pre op stuff

Ok I HAVE A DATE it is July 12th. Only 2 weeks away!!! Ok I'm going to tell my family this weekend. I'm so excited!! The nurse said to pencil it in until the schedule could call but she didn't see any reason why it couldn't be that day. So I'm 99% sure it will be JULY 12TH. Whoever is reading this please keep me in your prayers!!!

I'm so excited!!! Yesterday I had my appointment with the sleep doctor. (she is really nice) Well she released me for surgery!!! She said I can schedule surgery any day after Friday June 24th. She said Mercy should call me Friday to schedule me a date. I'm so excited!! She also said I might need my tonsil's out after surgery to stop sleep apnea because I have really big tonsils. But she said I can still have surgery and do great. I'm starting to get nervous now. I'll update when I have a date.

Ok so yesterday I had my first appointment with my surgeon Dr. Smolik. When he walked in I was thinking you are my surgeon. Are you really going to see me naked. He was hot! My friend and husband went with me(thanks for coming with me).It was raining so hard yesterday and my friend and husband and I got soaked. I was so glad they came with me. Dr. Smolik was very nice. He told me everything I had already heard from the first surgeon I was going to go to, but it was good to hear it again. He said the good thing is that I had already been approved so he said I will defiantly be having surgery in July!!! I only have 16 more nights with the Cpap before I can be released for surgery. Man it is getting close. I also Finally told my mom about surgery and to my surprise she wasn't mad. So now I just have to tell the rest of my family. Well good luck to everyone wherever you may be in your Journey.

I can't believe it has been almost six months since I started this Journey. I got good new. I looked at my schedule today and I saw I got the morning of June 8th off. So I called Mercy and to see if I could get in to see Dr. Smolick sooner, and she said YES. So my appointment is with the Surgeon is June 8th at 9:15. Then June 15th with the sleep doctor. I have wore "THE MASK" for 7 nights now. Only 23 more to go. One more week and I can have the info downloaded. I will be half way there. Well I will update after my appointment on June 8th.

Ok will 1 night down 30 to go. I made it thought my first night with "THE MASK". It wasn't that bad really. I took 2 Tylenol PM and I was out. I wore it for 6 hours! I took it off when my husband got up for work at 5:00 and went back to sleep. Then at 6:00 my alarm went off and I turned it off. I didn't wake up until 7:40 and I had to be at work at 8:00. I ran. I'm just glad I made it thought the night. I'm going to take the card to have them download the info on June 10. That will be 2 weeks. I WILL WEAR "THE MASK". "THE MASK" is my friend. HEHEEH. I just have to keep telling myself this. I would love to have surgery during the week of July 11th. Then I would be off Almost the rest of the summer. So that is my goal. Well I'll update again soon. I got my Auto Cpap machine today. I got the call from the sleep center yesterday and they wanted me to come in today to get fitted for the machine. I hope I can sleep with it on. I will do it!! I have to wear it for 4 hours a night and at least 4 weeks before I can get cleared for surgery. I was told I stop breathing 56 time an hour. When I told my grandma she asked if they suggested anything so that I don't have to wear it forever and I told yes to loss weight. She was like yes because you are so young and ..... you'll get high blood pressure and ..... I was thinking if you only knew that this is for Surgery. Well I'll update tomorrow after I use the Cpap tonight.

While first on all Friday I got a call from the insurance department at Mercy to tell me they also got APPROVAL from Aetna. I don't know why Grinnell took so long but Mercy is on top of everything. Bad new is my husband quit the job that we had Aetna thought because it was just his part time job and he got on full time at the MTA. (That is the city bus driver). So I wanted to happy about that. The good thing is I was told I could pay Mercy in payments so that is good. Ok Saturday I had my sleep study. First I got lost and I walked forever. I was more then a half hour late but the lady was really nice and didn't say anything. First I had to have my picture taken then get ALL hooked up. I had wirers coming from everywhere. Then I had to sleep on my back. I could not sleep. I can't sleep very well on my back. And I had to be almost all the way flat. The lady came in like 5 times to fix the wire on my CHIN. I felt like I didn't sleep at all. I was so tired. I went home at 6:00am and went to sleep for 3 good hours. Very glad that is over. Tuesday May 24th I went to Mercy to have my Dietarian lecture. It went good. They tell you exactly what you can eat for the first 30 days in this class. It was really good. Ok I don't know if I can tell my family about this!! My friends mom had the surgery on Monday and I was telling my grandma that I had sent her flowers to the hospital and my grandma was like why. I thought OK perfect opportunity to see her reaction. So I told her about my friends mom. She was like oh I know a lady how had it done like 20 years ago and died and that she should of done TOPS. That is were my grandma goes. She only had like 15lbs to lose. I'm very proud of her. But I can understand how it is hard to understand when you have never been more then 100lbs over weight. And I told her she had tried a lot of stuff but always gained the weight back. She wasn't convinced. I know she is going to be upset when I tell her I going to do it to. I hope she can understand sooner or later. I don't know how I'm going to tell her. I need to tell my mom and dad also. Maybe I'll tell then the week on surgery. hehehe Just kidding but that is how I feel right now. Well next apponitment is June 15th with the surgeon and the sleep doctor. I'll update then or when I have something new to post. Maybe I'll tell my family this weekend. If I do I'll update then!

I'm so happy. Amy from the sleep center just called and asked if I wanted to move up my sleep study. I was like YES!! I get to go May 21st of Saturday. That is so much better. I don't have to have it done on Memorial day and I don't have to go to work the next day. I still haven't heard anything from Aetna. And Brenda the lady from Dr. Swartzs office never called me back. I'm done with them. I'm sure Dr. swartzs is a great surgeon but this lady is just not on top of things. I'll update after my sleep study on Monday.

Ok I had my appointment yesterday with Mercy. When you get there you have to go to admitting first and be admitted. Then you talk to Marylin(who was so NICE). She is the financial person there she will find out your out of pocket max. Then I went to the fifth floor and they take your picture, weight and measure you and take blood pressure. Then you talk to the lady who does the insurance. She told me I was already approved by UHC which I knew, and that I only had the sleep study left to do before surgery because they have my pshcy eval. Then a lady named Amy from the sleep lab talked to me and there was 2 other Girls there who are also going to have surgery. I found out that you can start wearing the Cpap after your sleep study. You don't have to wait for your appointment with the sleep doctor. You do have to wear it for 4 weeks everyday for at least 4 hours. So hopefully I can have surgery in July!! I hope so. Then the nurse came and talked to us. She was really nice also. Everyone there are just so nice. She talked to us for like 2 hours. She gave us a lot of information. I have an appointment with the dietitian May 24th and my sleep study the 30. Then on June 15 I have my appointment with the sleep doctor and with Dr.Smolik. By the time I meet doctor Smolik hopefully I will already have 2 weeks done with the sleep study. I still haven't told my family yet. Maybe I'll tell them when I have a surgery date. I'm just scared of what they will say. I was at my mom's house on mothers day and me and my sister(she knows that I'm going to have the surgery) were talking about a girl that we know who is going to have the surgery. All my mom said was " people die from that" and that is all she said. So who knows what she is going to say. I have always been very stubborn and my family knows that so they will know there is be no reason for trying to change my mind. I'll update after my appointment with the dietitian.
